"Heaven Bound"
I settled on the MacGregor 26 for several reasons.  She is light (displ. 1650 lbs. dry) and could be easily towed by my family car.  She is large and roomy with a queen size double berth, a large V berth, and stand-up headroom with the pop-top up.  She is easily launched, set-up and retrieved.  With a draft of only 15"  I do not have to get my rear tires in the water on any ramp that I have used.  Last, and not least, the Mac 26 has a proven track record for the type of sailing that I do which is in protected waters.

So far, "Heaven Bound" is all the boat that I hoped she would be and even more.  I look forward to many enjoyable years with her.

"Heaven Bound" is my '90 MacGregor 26S.  I bought her in the summer of 2004 from her original owners.  They were retiring from sailing (they were in their 80's) after many enjoyable years aboard their Mac 26.

"Heaven Bound" is my second boat.  I previously sailed "Flying Lady", a shallow draft, fixed keel '78 Kells 23.  "Flying Lady" was my introduction and trial to sailing.    After many enjoyable sails upon "Flying Lady" (and I must admit, many trying and learning experiences as well) I decided that I liked sailing and wanted to "move up".

I spent several months reading about various trailerable sailboats, talking to various owners, and even took several excursions looking at various boats.  I  seriously considered a Com Pac 23, a Catalina 22, Rhodes 22, and came very close to buying a San Juan 23.
