Return to my Nest

For Aaron, who had great fun at the fire museum (11th ST and 42nd AVE S.E. Calgary, Canada) yesterday. When a two year old speaks of nothing else for the rest of the day, it deserves a bit of attention. So. . .

Maggie's Story

This is Maggie's story. Maggie is a fire truck. She is big and red with a long white ladder and a big, black rubber hose to move water to put out fires.

Maggie has a loud siren so the other trucks on the road will hear her coming, and four bright flashing lights on top so that the other trucks will see her, too.

Maggie had a big motor and big tires so that she can drive fast to save people's homes from fires, and places for the firefighters to sit and ride in her. The firefighters help Maggie. They hold her big black rubber hose and point it at the fire so that the water will put out the flames.

The firefighters wear big yellow hats on their heads to keep their hair cool, big yellow jackets to keep the flames from burning their clothes, and big black rubber boots to keep their feet dry from all the water.

Maggie is proud to be a fire truck. She is a good people helper. She loves her job!

Remember, if you are in a car, and you hear Maggie's siren and see her lights flashing, ask the grown-up driving the car to drive the car to the side of the road, so that Maggie has room to drive by and get to the fire faster, so she can do her job.

Maggie is our friend!

The End.
