Frederick W. Thurtell, one of the children of Edward Brookes Thurtell and Amy Burns Thurtell, is shown below in the 1900 U.S. Census for the state of Washington (Volume 15, ED 207, Sheet 14, Line 69). This shows him as Frederick Thurthell, a white male, age 45, born in September 1854 in Wisconsin, living in Lowell Precinct, Snohomish County, Washington. He was enumerated with Henry Bridge, but his relationship is shown as boarder. Henry and Mary J. Bridge must have had a boarding house, since there are eleven boarders listed as living with their family. Frederick Thurthell is shown as single, with his father born in England and his mother in North Carolina, with his occupation shown as day laborer. The census shows he is able to speak, read, and write English. The soundex for this census listing showed his name as Frederick Thurthill, but the census clearly shows the last name as Thurthell.
