Dear North Canton YMCA Gymnastics Alumni,
Greetings from the gym center!!! If you haven’t stopped in lately, things are rolling along here! We just finished out district championships and are proud to announce we are the champions in levels 4, 8, & 9!!! Our level 7 team lost by .7 and our level 5 team heads to their districts next weekend, we are expecting a good showing by our team!!
The most exciting news here is that we are the host of the 2009 Zone Gymnastics Championships! (aka regionals for those who competed in my generation!) This is a huge deal for us. We are expecting 480 gymnasts for the weekend. We are running 10 sessions of gymnastics for levels 5 – 9. The meet will be held at Hoover High School in North Canton on April 18th and 19th. Our booster club is planning on using all proceeds to update and maintain the equipment here at the gymnastics center.
Obviously, to run a meet of this size and caliber we need an extra-ordinary amount of volunteers, close to 285 for the weekend. Our current team size is 112 girls so even with everyone involved we are not close to our volunteer needs! We are looking for help in all aspects of the meet. Each volunteer session will be approximately 5 hours in length.
We would love to have the alumni of this team return to support the current program. I can only speak for myself; I would have a hard time listing all the great things that have happened in my life from my involvement in this program. I have lifelong friends, memories, experiences, values, and even a career from my time here. It would be a dream to have the alumni become involved in this meet and future events here.
If you are interested in volunteering please contact me before March 24th with your preferred day, time, and any preferences on where you are scheduled (we will *try* to honor those!). We will be placing volunteers in appropriate areas and contacting you to let you know the day and time you are scheduled.
