Class Types
Just Beginning Gymnastics – for children walking to 23 mos. with a parent/adult guardian; uses music, mats, mat shapes, gymnastics equipment, hoops, bean bags, balloons, ropes, etc. Parent & Child – 2 yr. to under 3 yr. with parent/adult guardian; lots of fun and uses gymnastics equipment Preschool Gymnastics – 3 yr. to 4 yr., uses gymnastics equipment such as low balance beam, bars, wedge, octagon, tumble trak, and barrel plus uses seasonal themes Kindergarten Gymnastics – 5 to 6 yr., uses gymnastics equipment and seasonal themes too, start learning more advanced skills Progressive Gymnastics – for girls, 1st grade and up, 2 skill levels which are Rollers (beginners) and Swingers (adv. Beginners) Pre-Competitive Gymnastics – intermediate level for girls, 1st grade & up, 3 skill levels (Kipper, Flyer, and Flipper) Basic Tumbling/Tumble Trak – for girls & boys, for 6 -12 yrs, beginning skills on tumbling and tumble trak; good for cheerleading; lead up class for back handspring class Boys Developmental Gymnastics – for boys, 1st grade and up, uses only gymnastic equipment for boys competition which include vault, rings, high bar, pommel horse, P-bars, & tumble trak; training level for intramural competitive program Pre-Team Gymnastics – by staff selection from our Pre-Competitive Flipper Level, advanced skills taught on all events plus students start to learn the USAG Level 4 and 5 routines for competition YMCA Girls’ Competitive Team – by staff selection from our Pre-Team Level or prior competitive team experience, compete in NEO YMCA league, USAG Levels 4 through 9, 3 practices per week Indoor Climbing Wall – open to ages 6 yr. and up but 6 –10 yr. must be accompanied by an adult Ballet –basic barre and floor work; 45 min. class Ballet/Tap Combo–basic ballet and tap; steps and combinations are taught Dance –includes Jazz/hip hop, tap, or modern/lyrical dance; 1 hr. class Cheerleading Class–basic motions, jumps, cheers, chants, cheerleading dance and tumbling Tap —basic technique using steps and combinations; different dance styles presented Jazz/Hip Hop —learn basic jazz technique; steps and combinations and small routines taught; up to date dance styles shown Competition Class—fun team training provided on vault, bars and floor; includes one meet per session; meet held at end of session; compulsory routines are taught for in house gymnastics competition; participants receive awards; Student must be enrolled as a roller, swinger, precomp or preteam. |
