Gardening
by Trial & Error ...

(A LOT OF ERROR)

Nineteen years ago I didn't have a clue about gardening. I just started digging beds all around the house, around the fir trees - anywhere I could sink my shovel and make a bed. I started buying plants and just putting them anywhere to get them into the ground until I decided where I wanted to plant them.

I bought lots of books and read them. But most of this has just been trial and error for me. Oh I read but everything didn't always sink in! I'd say for every 15 flowers I buy I loose 2! I have over 100's of different flowers. But I've lost sooooo many!!!

This year I bought ANOTHER Delphinium. Just to see if I could break last years record of killing it. I love them. I want to grow them. But for some reason they don't want to live here. THEY WILL LIVE HERE. And they will grow and multiply!!! I guess they like REALLY good drainage so I told my husband to dig the hole for this one and said "I want you to dig until you can feel the heat coming up from below!"

I've also started composting. This too, I read the books on. But it just seems so complicated. i do the best I can with what I have to throw into it. And guess what? This week I've used 3 big buckets full of it. What a great feeling to see what I made with all of my stuff I would normally throw away. So for all of you out there who think it sounds too hard to do (following all of those rules about layers) try it - it works even if you do it wrong! It just takes a little longer that's all!!!
