"Money"

Scriptures pertaining to money

“For the love of money is a root of all evils: which some reaching after
have been led astray from the faith, and have pierced themselves through
with many sorrows.” 1 Timothy 6:10

Our attitude toward God may be known to us in our reaction to his word.
The verse above is one of many that draws out our heart toward God.

Many churches today are concerned about giving money.
The first reason a collection was taken, was for the poor widows in Jerusalem.
The early churches met in homes, and fervent love is still shared there.

Giving to those in need reflects the compassion of the Savior.
It provides for us protection from the god of riches.
It has been noted that money has a power of its own.
We are all tempted to be led astray from the faith by pursuing it.

The verses listed below were selected to remind us what the Lord has said
regarding using money. They are an appropriate reminder before a collection.
The first command was to warn God’s people against pursuing any other gods.
A literal translation of it is:

“let there not be to thee, other gods beyond Me.”
Exodus 20:3

1 Timothy 6:3-10; Acts 4:32-35; 2 Corinthians 8:8-15;
