Article 6a   " Why Call Me Lord"

"And why do you call me Lord, Lord, and do not the things that I say?" Luke 6:46

These words of Jesus were a startling rebuke to the multitude following him one day. He knew their hearts. He knew their inclination to offer submission with their words, but with hearts far from him.

This was not new then, and it is not old today.

In saying this Jesus was not expecting perfection from sin-weakened people. But he was calling attention to lips that say "Lord," then speak

as they please. Jesus always sees the thoughts and intents of the heart.

Our words never deceive him.

He knows if we say and do not.

We may go to worship for years without his life and peace.

It can be different.

He will make us know when we yield to him.

He will remove concern for what others think.

He will give us sight of things unseen.

He will create desires to please the Father.

He will cleanse us by the power of his endless life.

He does not call us to be good.

He calls us to yield to him.

He is good.

There is no place to hide, but in Him.

"And a man shall be as a hiding place from the wind, and a covert from

the tempest, as streams of water in a dry place, as the shade of a great rock in a weary land." Isaiah 32:2
