Children's Health on the Decline

Feeding Minds Fight Hunger is an ongoing mission designed to help 1st ~ 8th graders discuss and understand issues of hunger, malnutrition, poverty, food security, and what people can do to end hunger.  The goal of this project is to engage students all over the world to participate in activities that works toward creating a world of hunger free.  Results are shared around the world annually on the World Food Day, October 16th.  This would be a great project for children who often complains what they get on their plates.  Hopefully, by the end, they will learn to appreciate and be grateful for not having to worry about where would the next meal come from.

This project challenges the middle school students to develop a realistic and doable one-week fitness plan through the study of obesity, exercise, culture, and nutrition.  The goal is to improve student's overall health through exercise and healthy food choices.  When the project  is completed, students can share their plans with other interested students.  Obesity is becoming one of the major health problems among children.  One in every five children is now designated as overweight or obese.  The main reason is that people are taking in more calories and sedentary lifestyle.  Children who are overweight are at higher risk for developing many other health problems.  Therefore, I think this would be a great opportunity for student 3rd ~ 8th graders to participate in the project.
