  3. Houses were here before 1964 clearance by the Charlottesville Redevelopment and Housing Authority "authorized" by 1960 referendum.   The Omni Hotel in the distance was built in the early 1980s and was the first structure built on Vinegar Hill after clearance.

  3. City Market was first held in the 1970s in the parking lot of Midway School before it was torn down and continued afterward.   City Market was also at Jefferson School for a while.

    "[Delegate L.L. Watts] traced the growth of the temporary workshop on South Fourth Street, East, which has been operating since 1925."
  4. "News from Sep. 1930", Sep 18 2002, The Witness Report -
    "The 1930 trade school for the blind on Monticello Rd. at Belmont Ave. was remodeled in the past two years.   From the sidewalk, the building appears to have no history whatsoever."
