Calling all...

VOLUNTEERS!

Questions to consider...

  • Are you available during the school day?
  • Do you like energetic five and six year olds?
  • Do you have patience, understanding and LOVE to offer?
  • Could you work with one child, or with a small group?
  • Would you like to READ with a child?
  • Are you DEPENDABLE?
  • Do you like to color, cut, & paste?
  • Would you like an EXTRA hug or two?

If you said YES to any of these questions, then you are a perfect candidate for volunteering at Park Elementary School. Just call the office @641/456-2143 and talk with Mrs. Hannah about volunteering or e-mail bhannah@hampton-dumont.k12.ia.us .

Many of our volunteers choose to visit daily, twice a week, or once a week. If that works for you, GREAT! If not, consider volunteering when it fits into your schedule! We NEED volunteers! Some of our best activities require extra hands!

Some of our parents work in a classroom other than their child's classroom. Kindergartners often find it difficult to accept the fact that Mom or Dad has to leave. If you find that this is a problem with your child, but still WANT to volunteer, this might be an option for you.

Some of your responsibilities might include:
  • helping during center time (8:15 - 9:00 daily)
  • helping with math groups (twice a week)
  • supervising a group of 4 or 5 students
  • reading to youngsters
  • listening to a youngster read
  • working one-on-one with a student

If your schedule will not allow a daily/weekly commitment, then helping for special activities might be an option for you!

  • special holiday activities
  • hands-on math activities
  • various other classroom activities
  • chaperoning a field trip

If you're a full-time working parent and you'd STILL like to volunteer in your child's classroom, then you might want to consider helping out at home. There are lots of ways you can help:

  • donating special supplies (usually food items - i.e. M&M's, marshmallows, Kool-Aid, etc.)
  • cutting, pasting, coloring, etc.
  • recording your voice as you read a story
  • preparing treats for a classroom celebration (i.e. Christmas, 100th Day, Valentine's Day, etc.)
