You are all Special People and "Volunteering is a Work of the Heart".

To those who volunteered to work in the kitchen, to cook our turkeys and hams and to prepare the food you are Special People. To all who donated food we thank you.  To all the young people who moved tables and chairs and help prepare and serve the meal, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

The main sources of revenue for the operation of Holy Cross Parish are through collection revenue and fundraising activities. Another method that parishioners can use to support your Church is through the allocation of bequests and/or special donations. The present Archdiocesan policy, which was formulated in 1991, is that Parish income is subject to current Diocesan Assessment. Donations that are designated for an approved capital project or with a specific restriction as to use other than for operating uses are exempt from Diocesan assessment.

To accommodate Special/Estate/Legacy donations to Holy Cross Parish, the Pastoral Council has developed the following guidelines that have been approved by the Archdiocese of Regina.

Guidelines for Special/Estate/Legacy Donations to Holy Cross Parish

70% of donation will be used for special projects within Holy Cross Parish.

  • Potential examples of use: replacement of altar server gowns, restoration of Way of Cross  stations, computer equipment for office, replacement of carpet in Upper Gerein Center, special church enhancements.

15% of donation to Social Justice Issues/Needs of Catholic Organizations within our local area.
  • Potential examples include Marian Center, Food Bank, Catholic Family Services, John Paul II Center, St Michael's Retreat, or refugee sponsorship fund.

15% of donation to Archdiocesan needs or projects (current 3-way distribution).
- 5% to Archdiocesan Appeal.
- 5% to Archdiocesan operations (assessment).
- 5% to Resurrection Parish building fund.

The following designation clause should be include in wills or with a special donation " I (we) hereby give/bequeath $________ to Holy Cross Parish, Regina, Saskatchewan to be used accordingly to the provision of the Parish Legacy Policy without prejudice to the Diocesan Assessment in effect at the time this will is executed or the special donation is given".

A special presentation on activities of Finance Council will be setup on the weekend of November 15th/16th at both entrances to Holy Cross Church. Please take time to review the information and to provide any feedback you have. We thank you for sharing and for volunteering.
