Well, everyone always told me that college was a place to meet new people, learn new things, and have fun. Over the last couple months, I have definitely experienced all of these things, along with a few extra that I didn’t think was supposed to be a part of college. Guess I was wrong. This is a story of an unfortunate situation that I happened to be a part of while I was at school, but, in the end, it all worked out in my favor.
First, in order to properly understand the whole story, you will need a little background information about my dorm. My dorm is more like an apartment than a dorm. We have, or I should say had, six people in it. There are three bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a kitchen and living room. At the beginning of the school year, there were six people living there. One kid dropped out, so we now only had five. There was me, my roommate, Alex, who the rest of this story is about, then Darren, Kevin, and Colin. The year started out good. We all got along well. But, then, we noticed that Alex was kind of really annoying. He was kind of like Kramer, on Seinfield. He figured that anything in the apartment was his and he could use it whenever he wanted. I would come in from class, and find him on my computer, I fixed that with the help of a little power-on password, he would use my stereo with out asking, the TV, and so on. Now, it turns out that this kid Alex, well, his real name is Alejandro. He and his family are all illegal immigrants from Argentina. They came here on “vacation” when he was four, and never went home. But, this was nothing compared to what is about to happen. Like I said, this is just background info.
Now, on one Saturday evening, when only Darren, who is a really cool guy, and a good friend, myself, and Alex were home. Alex informed us that some of his friends from high school were coming out to visit, and they were going to have a party in our room. So, naturally, Darren and I said bullshit, not in our room. If you want to hangout with these kids, that’s fine, but not in our room. So, the kids showed up, were there for a few minutes, and left. So, Darren and I watched a little TV, went downstairs, shot a little pool, and called it a night. The next morning, we were doing homework for our aeronautics class, and after about six hours of writing a paper, we decided it was time to go outside and have a little fun. We were going to go play some football down on the beach. Darren was going to drive, but I told him to hang on a minute, I wanted to get my sunglasses out of my car. As I’m in my car getting my sunglasses, Darren goes, “Oh, shit, man, look at your trunk.” So I looked, and on my trunk, someone had taken a key and scratched ‘Jersey Sucks, Quier’ yes, that’s how they spelled it. And, they ran the key the whole length of my driver’s side. Now, Darren was parked right next to me, and I looked at his jeep and said, “Guess what, they got yours too.” They scratched his jeep the whole way around. So, we called campus security, and then the cops. A report was filed, and that was that.
We had no idea who might have done this, until about three days later when a friend of mine from ROTC came to me and told me that Alex told him he had messed up our cars. Apparently, he was mad because we told him he couldn’t have a party in our room. Too bad. This kid had gone to high school with Alex, but really didn’t like him, so he told us when he found out. So, we were going to just kill the kid, but that would cost me my ROTC scholarship, and my career in the Air Force, so we were a bit more civil. So, we cornered Alex, and told him we had him on the parking lot security camera messing up our cars, and that he better confess. Well, the kid confessed, but he is a total moron, because there are no cameras in the parking lot. But, we had him on video, cassette, and a written confession. We took that back to the cops, gave a statement, and Alex and his friends were all arrested. Hehe. That was great. Then, we received checks for the damages to our cars. And, the kid was kicked out of the dorm. So, even though my car was damaged, it was still very nice. Because, now I have a room all to myself, my car is getting a brand new paint job, and we don’t ever have to put up with this stupid kid again. And, he is going to have a real fun time trying to get a job with an airline in four years with a criminal record. Sucks to be him. But, like I said, it was an unfortunate situation that worked out well for my roommate Darren and I, so we are happy, and college is back to normal. That’s all we really care about.
