It's A Sin To Tell A Lie
Written by Fats Waller

Be sure it's true when you say "I love you"
It's a sin to tell a lie
Millions of heart have been broken
Just because these words were spoken
I love you, yes I do, I love you
If you break my heart I'll die
So be sure it's true when you say "I love you"
It's a sin to tell a lie
SPOKEN MONOLOGUE: Now, ya better be sure that it's true when you say "I LUV ya." Honey chile, don'tcha know it's a sin to tell a lie? Whole LOTTA hearts have been broken. Ya know why they were broken? Just for these foolish little words that were spoken. Ya know what they were? "I LUV ya, I LUV ya." Darlin', ya know doggone well I luv ya and if ya break my heart I've got to die. So ya better be sure that it's true when you come runnin' up here saying "I luv ya" 'cause it's a sin to tell a lie.
I love you, yes I do, I love you
If you break my heart I'll die
So be sure it's true when you say "I love you"
It's a sin to tell a lie

I ADORE the works of Fats Waller. That man was a genius! This is also one of my all time favorite love songs, bar none.

This goes in the same catergory as "My Funny Valentine". The songs are funny until you take a closer look at what they're really SAYING.

This song is saying that there's entirely too much casual love. People mistake lust for love. A TRUE tragedy.

Everytime I have told someone I loved them, I meant it. I do not say those words lightly. I love them all. I may not always be IN love with them, and that is a fine distinction.

Everyone I've said "I love you" to?

I love you.
