"Span the world with Friendship!"

What we do!

Our Woodcraft Folk groups meets weekly, enjoying a varied programme including games, drama, craftwork, singing and dancing, as well as following an educational programme based on our aims and principles. Our Harrow district also provides a substantial quota of hiking, hostelling and camping which occur at weekends and during summer holidays. We seek to develop in our members a critical awareness of the world. We will work to develop the knowledge, attitudes, values and skills necessary for them to act to secure their equal participation in the democratic process that will enable them to bring about the changes that they feel are important in creating a more equal and caring world.

What makes the Woodcraft Folk special?

How are groups organised?

In Harrow like, in all Woodcraft groups, we are split into four age groups: 6 to 9 year olds are known as Elfins, 10 to 12 as Pioneers, 13 to 15 as Venturers and 16-20 as District Fellows. Each age group has a varying number of members but unfortunately no more than 20 in each at the moment and a regular group nights last between one and two hours, depending on the age of children involved.

During each meeting there is a council circle where everyone has their chance to raise any ideas, questions or criticisms. Group activities are co-ordinated by adult volunteers, who hold regular informal meetings to plan the weekly programme of activities. Every effort is made to include suggestions put forward by the children and young people. At every Woodcraft Folk activity there are always at least two registered adult members present. Parents are welcome to stay and become involved as well.
