    SEARCHING FOR THE TRUTH:

    (Follow Me)

Quite a few years ago I just could not wait for hunting season to open.I really enjoyed small game hunting of most small game. So looking forward to the hunting season I prepared before the opening of the game season.Oh yes my gun was oiled and cleaned,my hunting clothing was checked, cleaned and ready for the season to open and the hunt to start.

However that was quite a number of years ago.And at that time-during Feb.1957 I changed what I was looking for.Yes I started hunting for a city. That Holy Pearly White Celestial City of God,where joy, peace and contentment reigns both for now and evermore.

Then I thank God for the fact that when I was just a very young christian that I was shown just how important staying in context really was,To me it was very embarrassing at the time,But I thank God for the lesson that I learned that day in staying in context when studying the word of God.

It did not take long for me me to learn to search for the truth from the King James Version of the Bible. I think that most of the time man will at least think, that, this or that is right. But some how or some way they might miss lead us if we take their word without searching the Bible for the truth,If I hear a statement from someone that I am not sure about,Then I take a study in the Bible just to see if they are right

    There is a notion that is being started by a very few Pastors(thank goodness it is a very few)That as christians we should follow our Pastor. That he should be led by the Holy Spirit,and we should follow him.Those that seem to believe that theory seems to without fail use the following verses to back up their theory;

    1 Corinthians 4/16
16.Wherefore I beseech you,be ye followers of me.

    1 Corinthians 11/1
1.Be ye followers of me,even as I also am of Christ

    Philippians 3/17
17.Brethren,be followers together of me,And mark them which walk so as ye have us for an example.

    1 Thessalonianws 1/6
6.And ye became followers of us,and of the Lord, having received the word in much affliction, with joy of the Holy Ghost:

    1 Thessalonians 5/12 & 13
12.And we beseech you, brethren,to know them which labour among you,and are over you in the Lord, and admonish you.
13.And to esteem them very highly in love for their work's sake. And be at peace among yourselves.

From the very beginning permit me to say that I do not believe that I should follow no man.And the following is the reasons why:

At this time permit me to say that when Jesus says something that is just it.there is nothing that can come between me and the sayings of Jesus. With that said PLEASE take notice that all the verses that we will use is the very words of Jesus.

    JESUS SAID:
    John 12/26
26.If any man serve Me.let him FOLLOW ME;And where I am,there shall also my servant be:if any man serve Me,him will My Father honour.

    JESUS SAID:
    Matthew 19/21
21.Jesus said unto him,if thou wilt be perfect,go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven:and come FOLLOW ME.

    JESUS SAID:
    Mark 8/34
34.And when He had called the people unto Him with His disciples also,He said unto them,Whosoever will come after me,let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and FOLLOW ME.

    JESUS SAID:
    Matthew 4/19
19.And He said unto them, FOLLOW ME,and I will make you fishers of men.

    JESUS SAID:
    Luke 9/23
23.And He said unto them all,If any man will come after Me,let him deny himself and take up his cross daily, and FOLLOW ME.

    JESUS SAID:
    Luke 18/22
22.Now when Jesus heard these things,He said unto him,yet lackest thou one thing:sell all that thou hast, and distribute unto the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come FOLLOW ME:

If you would like other verses to think on,the following is other verses that tells us to follow Jesus:

    • Matthew 8/22
    • Matthew 9/9
    • Matthew 16/24
    • Mark 2/14
    • Mark 10/21
    • Luke 5/27
    • John 1/43
    • John 10/4
    • John 10/27
    • John 21/19
    • John 21/22
    • Acts 12/8
    • 1 Peter 2/21

There is other verses that either says follow Jesus or sugestes that we follow Jesus. They are eazy to find.Yes it is eazy to see and know that Jesus does in fact expect us to follow in His foot steps:

There is two questions that we might ought to try to answer.

    Question One:
    Would I follow Paul if I was living during Paul's ministry? The answer to that question would most likely be yes;

    Question Two:
Would I follow Paul if he was living today? The answer to that question would be without a doubt be no.

Why should the answer to the two questions be different? the answer to that question can be found in the following paragraphs:

    Question One:
The answer to this question would because Jesus was no longer on earth to lead the christians of that day.And some of the following things was happening in some of the churches,Yes Paul in those days was trying to teach those churches against false doctrines and false prophets and to teach the churches the christian way to worship the Lord in a christian spirit.

Yes Paul was facing problems in his ministries while serving some of the churches.

    • 1.The misconduct of their women in the public assembly, who quite wearing their veil.

    • 2.Trying to protect the Corinthians from being taught false doctrine.

    • 3.To protect the Corinthians from being fooled by false teachers.

    • 4.The rebuking of immorality.

    • 5.Teach Christian marriage.

    • 6.Indifference to evil in the church,The result of divisions.

    • 7.To not go to the law against thy brothers nor sisters in Christ.

    • 8.The body is Holy.Because it is washed and justified in the blood of Christ.

    • 9.The christian order of the Lord's Supper.

    • 10.The limitations of christian liberty.

All the above things and many-many other things that was not in order in the churches. And then the christians of that time in history did not have the inspired word and will of God(The Bible)that they could study and learn for themselves,Plus most of them was unable to read anyway.

So their only way to learn of the ways of salvation and christian living was thru their christian leaders .So in light of all the above,Yes I think I might very well have followed Paul in those days.

    Question Two:
Would I follow Paul if he was living today?
The answer to that question would ,most likely be no, However before saying yes or no,I would have to look at the following things.

Today most everyone that has any spiritual intentions has a Bible,(The life and teachings of Jesus, and the word and will of God) And we will find the King James Version does give us a good accounting of the life of Jesus. And also of His ministry,His sufferings, crucifixion, resurrection, and His rising into the clouds.

In the days of Paul,no one had a copy of the Bible.as we do today. We can study and know the word ourselves, but they could not.The greater part of us has the capablity to read and know the truth,Straight from the Bible.

So with the above in mind and with the opportunity and capablity to read the Bible(KJV)I see no need for me to follow anyone else since I can follow in the foot steps of Jesus Christ: the Lord of my soul anyhow. So my answer to question two would surely be no-never,Under no condition.

    John 14/6

6.Jesus said unto him,I am the way,the truth, and the life: no man cometh to the Father, but by Me

Of course we are to listen to scripture as taught by mankind, but not to permit them to dominate out hearts, because only the Lord Jesus Christ is Lord of My soul anyway.

So in light of all the above,This theory is completely and totally unacceptable to me.
