The book bag of holding appears, to all
intents and purposes, to be a simple nylon back pack of the type within which
school children carry their books. The interior, however, is a small
pocket universe (1.4m³ volume) powered by a proto-dimensional power
plant. Because the backpack can unzip and fold out to an area of
approximately half a square meter, fairly large items (including beings) can be
placed within. To allay the curiosity of creatures even as unintelligent
as your typical airport screener, the book bag of holding comes with a
normal-sized insert of about 6 liters volume. This is attached within the
zippered opening and can be filled with toiletries, books, electronic games, and
other items normally carried by your average traveller (such items sold
separately). Items placed within the pocket universe add no mass to the
book bag of holding, though those placed within the insert do.
