Allo Allo! Long time-no hear. Hope y'all are fine. Met the MC from Viking fest last Saturday. He came to see me and Jim play at a place called Borders. He was raving about you guys and it blew his mind when I told him that we go way way (centuries) back. He absolute y loved y'alls show (keep in mind he's in his mid 60s). People are still talking about y'all and they're saying good things. Been busy beyond belief with the label (now 8 acts up & running) and gigging (6 different bands!). Billy Joe Shaver wanted me back (remember I quit last year) and he's under new management (thank God!). New album on US Records due out next month called "E ectric Shaver". Just came back from Dallas where we played a huge festival at the South Fork Ranch (remember JR and the TV series!?). 5 entrances (roads) to the place, so you can imagine how BIG it is. Bumped into Kim Simmonds & Savoy Brown up there as we l. They were playing at Blue Cat Blues down town so we stopped by to say hi. They sounded great (3-piece with Tom Compton from Johnny Winter's band on drums) and Kim was in a terrific mood. Still playing Gibson/Marshall's loud as hell. He was also playing harp (!) and sounded great and told he had had a "break through" finally. When I was working with him he turned me on to glass slides which was a break thru for me, so I know the feeling. Last week was interesting; met Al Kooper. He looked like Bjorn's "b other" - amazing similarities in their personalities. Al has retired from the music biz (he wants no part of the bs anymore - period), but teaches at Berkley! Dr. Kooper - pretty cool. One big difference between Al & Bjorn is that Werngren can play circle around Kooper... Looking for a "fabulous record contract"? Things are really changing in the business and this year there will be some scary shit going down with the major labels believe me. At the end of the year there'll only be two majors left - Sony and Seagrams, I be you a dollar on it. Talk to us and we'll see what we can do. Have started scoring the big band parts for Steve Gibbons new (jazz) album. It will rock! He froze his ass off up there on the last tour. I warned him, but what could he do. I later sent him a "visitor's guide to Acapulco" in the mail just to rub it in re l good. He understands now why I live in Texas... Kul att det finns tjejer som gör bra blues i sverige. Den enda jag upptäckt tidigare var Sweet Loise, och nu Little Jenny. Fantastiskt!!! Tänkte gå och lyssna live, så fort jag får chansen. Spelar och lyssnar mycket på Delta blues. Försöker förkovra mig på slide och har en customiserad Fender Stratocaster och en Epiphone Biscuit för detta ändamål.
