This fancy "Hand painted" lady's boot would have been the property of a wealthy lady in the Victorian era.

This Tutorial makes use of Bezier Curves. The instructions are very easy to follow. Please remember to SAVE your work often. It would be a frustrating time to complete a lot of the tutorial, only to lose what you have done and have to start again. You will need the graphics on the right for this lesson. This tutorial was designed in PSP 6.02 and can be completed in other versions
with some adjustment. Use your creativity and have fun.

1. Open new image, width="350" height="350", 16.7 million colors, White. I have chosen white so as to make it easier to see your work.
Click on the "Color Options pallet." Color Options Pallet Make your foreground color Black ["#000000"] and your background color white. ["#FFFFFF"].

2. Go to "View/Rulers" and click Ok. [If you do not already have "Rulers" on your PSP Desktop] Go to "View/Grid" and click Ok. I find it is easier to be more precise when using the "Drawing Tool" if you have both the "Rulers" and "Grid" activated.


3. Click on the "Layers Option Pallet." Layers Options Pallet Add a layer and name it "outline."

4. Click on the "Drawing Tool," Drawing Tool open your "Tool Options Pallet" Tool Options Pallet and select the following settings: "Bezier Curve; width=5; antialias=checked; vector=unchecked."

5. Start at co-ordinates W=80 x H=30 and draw a line straight down to co-ordinates W=80 x H=180.

6. Now to create the first Bezier curve. Left click at co-ordinates W=100 x H=100 and then a second left click at co-ordinates W=100 x H=150.

Time to save your work. Go to "File/save as" and save in a .psp extension. I have saved mine as "boot1.psp."


7. Click on the "Drawing Tool," Drawing Tool open your "Tool Options Pallet" Tool Options Pallet and with the Bezier curve and same settings.

8. Start at co-ordinates W=80 x H=180 and draw a line straight down to co-ordinates W=70 x H=240.

9. Now to create the second Bezier curve. Left click at co-ordinates W=50 x H=210 and then a second left click at co-ordinates W=50 x H=230.

Go to "File/save" and click Ok and it will be saved in a .psp extension.

10. Click on the "Drawing Tool," Drawing Tool open your "Tool Options Pallet" Tool Options Pallet and with the Bezier curve and same settings.

11. Start at co-ordinates W=70 x H=240 and draw a line straight down to co-ordinates W=150 x H=320.

12. Now to create the third Bezier curve. Left click at co-ordinates W=130 x H=270 and then a second left click at co-ordinates W=145 x H=295.

Go to "File/save" and click Ok and it will be saved in a .psp extension.

13. Click on the "Drawing Tool," Drawing Tool open your "Tool Options Pallet" Tool Options Pallet and with the Bezier curve and same settings.

14. Start at co-ordinates W=150 x H=320 and draw a line across to co-ordinates W=290 x H=315.

15. Now to create the fourth Bezier curve. Left click at co-ordinates W=200 x H=335 and then a second left click at co-ordinates W=240 x H=335.

Go to "File/save" and click Ok and it will be saved in a .psp extension.

16. Click on the "Drawing Tool," Drawing Tool open your "Tool Options Pallet" Tool Options Pallet and with the Bezier curve and same settings.

17. Start at co-ordinates W=290 x H=315 and draw a line to co-ordinates W=210 x H=250.

18. Now to create the fifth Bezier curve. Left click at co-ordinates W=295 x H=295 and then a second left click at co-ordinates W=230 x H=290.

Go to "File/save" and click Ok and it will be saved in a .psp extension.

19. Click on the "Drawing Tool," Drawing Tool open your "Tool Options Pallet" Tool Options Pallet and this time choose "Single Line" with the same settings as for the Bezier Curve.

20. Start at co-ordinates W=210 x H=250 and draw a line to co-ordinates W=170 x H=180.

Go to "File/save" and click Ok and it will be saved in a .psp extension.

21. Click on the "Drawing Tool," Drawing Tool open your "Tool Options Pallet" Tool Options Pallet and still on the "Single Line" with the same settings as for the Bezier Curve.

22. Start at co-ordinates W=170 x H=180 and draw a line to co-ordinates W=180 x H=25.

Go to "File/save" and click Ok and it will be saved in a .psp extension.

23. Click on the "Drawing Tool," Drawing Tool open your "Tool Options Pallet" Tool Options Pallet and choosing Bezier Curve again with the same settings.

24. Start at co-ordinates W=180 x H=25 and draw a line to co-ordinates W=150 x H=20.

25. Now to create the sixth Bezier curve. Left click at co-ordinates W=170 x H=20 and then a second left click at co-ordinates W=155 x H=15.

Go to "File/save" and click Ok and it will be saved in a .psp extension.

26. Click on the "Drawing Tool," Drawing Tool open your "Tool Options Pallet" Tool Options Pallet and choosing Bezier Curve again with the same settings.

27. Start at co-ordinates W=80 x H=30 and draw a line to co-ordinates W=165 x H=30.

28. Now to create the seventh Bezier curve. Left click at co-ordinates W=120 x H=25 and then a second left click at co-ordinates W=165 x H=10.

Go to "File/save" and click Ok and it will be saved in a .psp extension.

29. Click on the "Drawing Tool," Drawing Tool open your "Tool Options Pallet" Tool Options Pallet and choosing Bezier Curve again with the same settings.

30. Start at co-ordinates W=165 x H=30 and draw a line to co-ordinates W=205 x H=245.

31. Now to create the eighth Bezier curve. Left click at co-ordinates W=150 x H=110 and then a second left click at co-ordinates W=150 x H=220.

Go to "File/save" and click Ok and it will be saved in a .psp extension.

32. Click on the "Magic Wand Tool," Magic Wand Tool open your "Tool Options Pallet" Tool Options Pallet and choose the following settings: "Match mode=RGB Value; Tolerance=100; Feather=0."

33. Left click in the center of the inner lining on the right hand side of the "Boot." You will need to hold down the "Shift key" and left click on the lower part of the lining as well. The "Marching Ants" will appear.

34. Go to "Selections/modify/expand" and when the "Box" pops up choose expand by 1. Click Ok.

35. Open the "Satin_Gold.jpg" tile. Click on the "Flood Fill Tool" Floodfill Tool and in the "Tool Options Pallet," Tool Options Pallet choose "Pattern." Click on the middle tab and scroll down and choose "Satin_Gold" tile.

36. Left click inside the "Marching Ants." The "Satin_Gold" will flood fill the sections.

Go to "File/save" and click Ok and it will be saved in a .psp extension.
