Bhaskara - I had television cameras operating in visible (0.6 micron) and near-infrared (0.8 micron); to collect data related to hydrology, forestry and geology. Satellite microwave radiometer (SAMIR) operating at 19 GHz and 22 GHz for study of ocean-state, water vapor, liquid water content in the atmospher, etc.
The satellite was launched on 7 June 1979, and weighed 444 kgs, it was placed in an orbit of 619 X 562 km by a Soviet Intercosmos Rocket.
Bhaskara-II was similar to Bhaskara - I. It was launched on 20 November 1981 and weighed 444 kg, the satellite was placed in an orbit of 619 X 562 km by a Soviet Intercosmos Rocket.
