Dalmatians of Hardrock
Hardrock Dalmatians was founded in 1994 with the rescue of a ten month old black and white male, Rompford Gee Wilikers Beauregard CD 'Beau'. Beau had been neglected by his owner, who had been in a car crash and couldn't care for him properly. He had been untrained, unsocialized and undisciplined. Consequently, we had our work cut out for us when we took him. After a year and a half of constant training, re-socializing, exercising, and neutering Beau was pronounced semi-rehabilitated.
When we got Beau, my hope was for a potential show dog. Beau did not turn out to be this dog. Our first show dog was a liver bitch, Am/Cdn Ch. Skydels N Bentley's Hardrocker Am/Cdn CD AX OAJ AGI RD FDCH NRD CGC 'Darby'. We purchased Darby from a breeder in Lethbridge, after considering several other litters and even getting on a waiting list for a very promising litter only to be disappointed when that litter didn't yield a bitch for us. Darby was worth the wait though. She has achieved every goal we set out for her and is always striving to achieve more.
'Theo', Am/Cdn Ch Hardrock Wdwynd Tragically Hip Am/Cdn CD AGN OA NAJ, is the sweet liver boy we kept from Darby's first litter with 'Bear' Am/Cdn. Ch Woodwynd's Ursa Major' Theo is a real softy, just like his dad. He competes in conformation, agility and obedience, but he does not do it for the thrill of the game like Darby does. He does it for his mom.
Our newest dog is 'Andie' Ch Gramayre Spice Up The Hardrock, a two year old Weimaraner. Andie came to us as a puppy from our friends Shelly Shorrock and Troy Pongracz of Gramayre Weimaraners in Manitoba.
