Brent Carver

Ok, so I'll admit it. I've been known to obsess over actors for reasons other than their talent. :-) But Brent Carver is a definite exception to that. Not only is he a very attractive man, but he is simply one of the finest actors I've ever had the honour of seeing perform. Brent first caught my attention when I heard the original cast recording of Kiss of the Spiderwoman, but my true obsession was born the first time I saw him perform, as Leo Frank in Parade on Broadway. He so inhabited the character and had such total command of the stage - I couldn't take my eyes off him. The next time I saw him live, as Tevye in Fiddler on the Roof ranks as one of my all time absolute favourite theatrical experiences. He truly is a god of the theatre.

Dear One

To live and die a pirate king!

To Life!

Brent most recently was in Toronto performing in Larry's Party. I've heard good things about his portrayal (I very seldom hear otherwise! :-) but I didn't get a chance to see the production. I don't know what he'll be up to next, but I'm sure it will be a fascinating project and he'll do his usual incredible job. I've had the opportunity to meet him twice, and both times was struck by how humble and gracious he is, and what a genuinely nice person he seems to be.
