MEMBERSHIP is the Society is $20.00 per year for a single membership and $25.00 for family membership, due annually on January 1 and ending December 31. Members receive the quarterly newsletter with their membership and are eligible for our very helpful monthly brickwall drawing. Those joining later in the year will receive the newsletters for the balance of the year and pay only prorated dues for the remaining months of the year.
At this time we are now meeting in our new library building at 220 West Main, behind the Kirby-Hill House and the Kountze Public Library. The library is open only on Wednesday and the second Saturday during our monthly meetings. Hopefully, we will be able to expand our hours in the future. MEETING DATE is the second Saturday of each month at 10:00 am. Members and non-members are welcome to attend all meetings.
If you need help with research the library is open on Wednesday 10:00 am to 2:00 pm and our society members are ready to help.
You are welcome to submit a query or request a lookup and our members will try to help answer your questions. Type 'QUERY' in subject line please. Please limit queries to Hardin County area lookups. Please include a short synopsis of what you are looking for. Please send email to Hardin County Genealogical Society
These queries will also be posted in our quarterly newsletter with the hope our readers may also help. I am beginning to post queries on this site for reference. Our society would like to include your family history in our newsletter and on our webpage. If you family has a Hardin County connection and you would like your family history posted on this webpage, email it to Hardin County Genealogical Society
OUR SOCIETY CEMETERY PROJECT
is currently underway and we are making inroads of taking a "census" of all the cemeteries in Hardin County. We have located 6 cemeteries that have never been inventoried and some are not on a map. If anyone knows of someone without a headstone buried in Hardin County or knows of a "lost" cemetery or graves please contact a member so we can make a record of that person or place. For info on 2 "lost" cemeteries click on
