I had always been a dog person my entire life. I grew up having at least one dog in my life as a child. My dad and brothers had a Beagle for hunting named Tippy that I just loved. We had various mutts throughout the rest of my childhood. When I met my husband he had a black Labrador named Jasper. I always said I fell in love with Jasper before I fell in love with my husband, whom now unfortunately is an ex-husband. Through our married life my husband and I owned several Labradors and even bred them.

Enough about dogs…back to the subject of this website. No one in my family ever owned cats while I was growing up and my parents always said they hated them. My husband was allergic to cats and so was my son.

Several months after my husband and I broke up a beautiful brown kitten showed up on my deck purring and rubbing around my ankles. I immediately fell in love with this sweet little cat. She showed up at a time in my life when I was feeling low, as I had not chosen for our family to break up and my husband to move on.

The kids and I named the little brown cat Kit-Kat. I tried to think of a name for the kitten that had something to do with sweetness because she was a very sweet cat. However, the Labrador-love of my life Casey was not so receptive to having a cat living in her house. It took several weeks until Casey was able to be in the same room with Kit-Kat and not be chasing her or sniffing the fur off of her. Much to my surprise Kit-Kat and Casey became best of buddies and would hang out together on my bed looking out the window during the days when I was at work.

I didn’t realize when Kit-Kat came into my life that I would become a major cat lover.
