Castle Greyhawk Notes and Conversions
The original notes on the sprawling dungeon crawl under the Ruins of Castle Greyhawk have sparked lots of conjecture, rumor and legends in the World of Greyhawk campaign setting. As one of the first D&D campaigns it was there that many legendary characters (Tenser, Robilar, ect.) of the setting made their names. Unfortunately the original notes of Gygax were said to be lost long ago. Even so several sources of information to run a campaign there remain.

Update 08-29-04 - Jon from the UK reports that Gary Gygax and Rob Kuntz are working with Troll Lord Games to publish the a module based on the original Castle Greyhawk to be called Castle Zagyg. To be published under the Castle & Crusades rules it seems it will be based on the original notes on the Dungeon. Darlene (remember the really cool original map that came with the 1983 box set?) is said to be doing the maps.

Published adventures based in Castle Greyhawk include:
WG7: Castle Greyhawk - A module set in an alternate Greyhawk (perhaps even a demiplane itself). Not very Greyhawk in content of source info but very in line with the Mad Archmage's sense of humor

WGR1: Ruins of Castle Greyhawk - Though not written by Grygax this is the one that details the true (canon) version of Greyhawk. While full of campaign ideas - the Ring of Five, the underworlders, the obilisk, etc.- the module isn't that great on details, room descriptions, or editing. Fleshed out it makes a decent dungeon crawl.

Adventures based on demiplanes accessed through Castle Greyhawk include
WG6: Isle of the Ape - In which a group of heroes rescue the Crook of Rao from a King Kong island. A bit out of date with the flight of the fiends story line but if your campaign hasn't gotten that far yet there is no better way to make the characters feel responsible for getting rid of Iuz's demonic horde than by fetching the Crook.

EX1: Dungeonland - Adventure based on Alice in Wonderland

EX2: Beyond the Magic Mirror - Part two of this adventure based on Alice in Wonderland

Robilar Remembers: A number of articles and essays by Rob Kuntz recounting the adventures of Robilar and the early days of the Castle Greyhawk days are available on the web.

Up on a Soapbox: A number of articles have appeared in Dragon Magazine by Gary Gygax himself recounting the early days of D&D and the exploits of adventurers to the dungeons of Castle Greyhawk.
