FACTORIES : Factories can symbolise the mind and how we produce and make thoughts. It can therefor be a symbol of pyschology and the understanding of the mind. In effect the dream may relate to some issue where we are looking deeply at why do we think the way we think?''.

DREAM STUDIES : Real dreams with factories in them
---------------------------
THE DREAM - In the first dream, there were two mailboxes in front of my house ( it's the THIRD dream I have this month where there are more than one mailbox! ). I opened one of them, it wasn't locked so anybody could open it. It was full of money! I went to the living room and put the money on the table, I wasn't believing that so I realized that should be fake bills. I started to separate it, to my surprise, half the money wasn't fake so I tried to figure where that money could have come from? Somebody mentioned sometimes people steal it, then hide it inside mailboxes and forget completely about it. For some reason, I looked really carefully at the fake notes. Some of them where obviously fake, some of them I had to ask my mother's help to identify ( my mother works in a bank ).

I barely woke up and went to the second dream

I was visiting the Mint ( I mean the place where they make money ). There were lots of people working there, and a constant machinery noise. I don't know why, but I was helping a guy at one of the printers, holding special paper and adjusting it to the cutter. Somebody told him to go and see the boss, and I kept cutting the new bills. I realized he was going to be fired....

After a while, I went to see the rest of the place. There were lots of machinery and people who worked there looked happy. Above my head, there were TONS of mold for making coins. I looked at them fascinated, there were molds for new coins, like the ones we use nowadays, and molds from coins used in the beginning of past century, coins from every decade ( Brazil changed its coins and bills almost every decade, so you may realize how many molds were there ). Then I heard rumors I was going to be employed there, replacing the fired guy. I wanted to go back to the machine I was very quickly, but I was lost. I went running everywhere, all machines looked the same and I tried to find the one with my purse. People started to prepare to go out, because work hours were ending, there were even people playing games. A woman came and handed my purse, I got a bit disappointed realizing I couldn't find ''my'' cutting machine anymore. ( In waking life, I'm desperate for a job... ).

My college professor and colleagues appeared out of nowhere and I noticed that all was a college visit. The professor said we were going to be back next day and that gave me new hope. We got out of the mint, and as I walked though the streets ( familiar streets next to my former college - though that place should actually be in another city ) I was suddenly browsing through magazine stores. There were some rings at sale there ( in waking life, I'm actually looking for a ring to fit my pinky finger ) so I started to browse trying to find a ring. They were all hanging above my head and were ridiculously expensive so I bought none. I woke up.

THE REALITY The previous few days the dreamer had been talking about why she could not find a job when there were lots of people with not much real ability. The dreamer had also been complaining about CV's and how they do not really show the true person. They often contain lies. People have personal qualities that cannot be judged by paper qualifications. The dreamer also touched on the economic situation in her country (Brazil) which was rather bad at that time. Her long term wish for a job that she would find rewarding. Above all the dreamer was working through her mind ideas about value - about who decides how valuable a person is. She was feeling undervalued and thought that she deserved a permanent job(she was working on a freelance basis).

DREAM MEANING The dream captures the following feeling within the dreamer - "Yesterday I was thinking a lot about jobs and how its unfair how some people get jobs easily by using contacts. Its so annoying that people lie on CV's. I am unemployed and cannot get a job. Its all so unfair. People reject me and they do not even know me"

THE INTERPRETATION Dreams do truly symbolise our thoughts. Contained within our thoughts are concepts and ideas which are forming within us. On the night before this dream the dreamer was frustrated because she had been unable to find a job. Also she was annoyed that other people tend to get jobs easily because of contacts they hold. How exactly could this dream link those thoughts?

The main symbol here is the money factory. The dream also contains fake money. What exactly could this symbolise? Money is symbolic of value. In this case it symbolises the way someones value is judged by the CV that they have. The fake money in the dream is an exact parallel with the dreamers belief that many people get jobs with fake references and with fake CV's. The factory though is a deeper symbol. A money factory is the dreams way of asking the question - "who decides how valuable one person is? How does one person come to be more valuable than someone else in the job market?". So the money factory is in fact a symbol of the mind - it symbolises how the mind creates value.

The magazine stores also link with the thoughts going through the dreamers mind before she went to bed. Magazines shops show that we are grasping for some ideas which capture our exact thoughts. They show us 'shopping' for words and phrases which capture our thinking. That was the case here as the dreamer was coming to her own considered opinion on this topic.

Symbolic Meanings
COLLEGE : "the dreamers own educated opinion on the subject of jobs"
FACTORY : "why do we think the way we think - how does the brain manufacture thoughts and feelings"
FAKE : "false character - people lie on CV's and application forms"
LOCKED : "CV's are not secure - people lie and falsify them"
MAIL : "symbolic of application forms sent through the post"
MINT(money factory) : "how is the value of one person decided - who decides who is valuable"
MONEY : "the value of something - in this case the value of any one person applying for jobs"
RUMOR : "you do not really what happened - so rumour takes over - the dreamer does not know why she did not get a certain job"
STEAL : "done without little effort - the dreamer feels people get jobs without deserving them"
STORE : "the choices available to you at present"

DREAM TIP : Think about the actual day of the dream. Have you been thinking about some important event that is happening then? Have you been thinking about how you are going to put some plans into action? Dreams may focus on the day to come and how you are relating to problems you wish to solve.
--------------------
THE DREAM The dream used to begin as a cartoon. The dream is of a factory, an evil factory where a supernatural force is plotting to kill a prisoner. The Prisoner is very scared, because he knows how he will die. It has always contained two people who are discussing his death. The prisoner tries to escape, but he is captured and tortured by either a conveyer belt crusher or a suffocation style execution.

THE REALITY When the dreamer was nine he developed an evil perspective on life. He would always think that people had problems that could only be solved with another problem.

As a background to the dream the dreamer was very direct as a child but people claimed that there was something more to this - that the devil was hiding within him. He was always dramatized as a child, beaten, abandoned, and medicated more than a child should be. He was taught by his mother that the only thing that kept him in check was the devil(this coming from a woman who’s whole life is to smoke, drink and shoot up).

DREAM MEANING The dream captures the following feeling within the dreamer - "I have grown up in an abusive household and have always had some strange ideas on evil. I believe that if some problem is solved then life will present us with another problem"

THE INTERPRETATION Dreams show the inner workings of the mind. This dream seems at least seems consistent with the way this dreamer saw the world. Perhaps the dream captured a moment when he felt as though one evil problem is to be replaced by another one.

Factories are usually symbols connected with the inner workings of the mind. They show us wondering why we think the way we think. So if this child is brought up against a backdrop of religion and a major emphasis on the devil then this will show up in his dreams. So the factory symbolises how he was viewing his own mind and looking deeply at how the circumstances within our life are constructed. Maybe the boy was having to look deep inside himself and see if he was possessed by the devil.

Notice that the dream is a cartoon. Cartoons are often linked to a simplified view of the world. That would certainly link to this view about evil. It is a highly deterministic view of the world - things happen in a set order.

The conveyor belt could symbolise the continuous nature of life's problems - one problem would be overcome but merely replaced by another one. Its easy to see how he started to believe this if he suffers a deprived upbringing.

The prisoner is symbolic of how the dreamer feels trapped in this world - he will not escape problems and if he does some new problem will be encountered. In fact this dreams probably links to a mild form of mental illness as a child. He was unable to free himself of the mindset that had been forced upon him.

Symbolic Meanings
CARTOON : "some way of thinking that is oversimplified"
DEATH : "the end of one phase and start of some new one - in this case if some problem is solved the dreamer expects another problem to emerge"
FACTORY : "understanding why we think the way we do - how we manufacture thoughts - in this case understanding the way evil is manufactered"
TWO : "mixed feelings about something "
----------------------------------------
DREAM TIP : The link between dreams and the day before is really quite strong. Try to write down some quotes that capture your feelings from the previous day. For instance "I have got to start picking up on errors much quicker. My secretary has been sending out letters which have been listing out of date information". Its likely that many dreams are linked to such conceptual thoughts and emotions forming in your mind.
