Dido Concert Review (5/23/04)
I saw Dido live four years ago when she was first getting started. I dragged one of my poor friends, because the tickets were only $12 dollars. I loooved the concert even though she basically just played the songs on her album, No Angel. I discovered Dido because her song, Here With Me was the intro to the Show Roswell on the WB. She then hit the big time when her song, Thank You, was sampled by Eminem.
Last Wednesday Dido gave a show at the Paramount that a friend of mine from church took me to. Even though I wasn't crazy about her new album, Life For Rent, I was ecstatic to go to the concert. I still love her old album and her voice is so consistent and smooth. I was not disapointed by the performance. From her old album she played Here With Me, Hunter, All You Want, Thank You, Honestly OK, Isobel and My Life. Dido talked quite a bit, giving background stories to the songs, and making jokes.
From her new album Dido performed, White Flag, Life For Rent, Mary's In India, Stoned, Sand In My Shoes, See You When You're 40, Don't Leave Home, Who Makes You Feel, See the Sun and If You Have a Little Time. To my pleasant surprise Dido morphed many of her mellow sophomore songs into danceable funky tunes. The Paramount isn't the most condusive to dancing but she encouraged us to get up and by the end everyone was standing and moving to the beat. She had an amazing 5 piece band and the percussionist had a different instrument in her hands every 5 seconds! She was backed by a light show that added the perfect ambience to the various songs' moods.

My bjork website, shiny battery, is now going to be hosted by a "real" server, sugarcube.net. I am verrrry excited because geocities has many many restrictions...and problems. Plus, the fact that the person who owns the server is willing to host me means that my site is kinda good. So yay! You can visit the new URL at
shinybattery.sugarcube.net.

Well my job started last week. I am in the process of setting up my class room. eegad there is so much to do. Wow. School starts September first so I have a little bit of time...but not much.
I am also moving into an apartment in downtown Bothell. It is a corner apt with tons of windows!! I love love it. I am looking for a room mate so if you know anyone please get us in touch.
I probably won't be updating this little site anymore so my apologies. I just can't see myself having/making the time. Plus I feel like I have achieved the goal of getting website experience. I have a live journal now which is 1)easier to update and 2) people can leave comments. You can take a look and respond if you want even if you don't have a live journal yourself. After Sept first I will probs make it "friends" only which means you have to have a live journal to read it and make me a "friend." But if you add me I will surely add you back.
What is a live journal you might be wondering? Well it is basically the same as this web site...I write little entries about what I am doing and post it for people to read. I can put pictures in it too just like here.
