What's New?

January 1, 2000: Radical changes. We've moved to Geocities; the new URL is http://www.oocities.org/gyoung858/ The bad news is you'll see a bunch of little Geocities pop-ups all over the site; the good news is these little pop-ups keep the site free for me and I no longer have to deal with AOL and its hopelessly inadequate FTP client. Also made dramatic design changes that allow my various sites to be more obviously interconnected. Let me know what you think!

November 24, 1999: Mostly housecleaning. Added a link to strikethree.com, an entertaining and informative source of baseball information. Deleted a few outaded links. Updated the Roaring 20 league web site link. It's now at http://members.aol.com/BLRoaring20/ if you're interested in taking a look or possibly joining--we currently have a few openings. Also, on a more general note, I now find myself on the staff of TopProspectAlert.com, an up-and-coming web site about prospects, by and for baseball fans. Check it out when you have a chance.

November 8, 1999: Posted California Fall League Report: Lancaster at Lake Elsinore. Read about the season finale.

November 7, 1999: Finally posted Padres Farm Report: Buddy Carlyle. Find out about the latest prospect to reach San Diego.

October 11, 1999: Posted California Fall League Report: San Bernardino at Rancho Cucamonga. Added a link to TopProspectAlert.com, a new source for information on prospects. Deleted a few outdated links.

July 25, 1999: Posted a rather lengthy rant on the alleged fire sale that took place this off-season in San Diego, titled, Did Somebody Report a Fire Sale?

July 11, 1999: Phew. Whole lot goin' on over here. Posted my report on the California/Carolina League All-Star Game. Added links to NetShrine and SportsOnly! We're now indexed at SportsOnly! as well as at John Skilton's Baseball Links. You can rate my site there, if you're so inclined. Finally, in the Minor League Resources section, I've added a link to Jim Meeks' site The Minor League Newsstand. Like I said, Phew.

July 3, 1999: Posted Anatomy of a Winning Streak, an examination of the San Diego Padres' recent 14-game winning streak. Added more links to sites in the Minor League Resources section.

June 1, 1999: Posted Draft Watch 1999: Rice University. Features LHP Mario Ramos, who looks to be drafted in the first 5 or 6 rounds of this year's draft.

May 21, 1999: Posted Draft Watch 1999: Cal State Fullerton. Find out about Spencer Oborn and Rick Owens, a couple young hitters who will be drafted next month.

May 17, 1999: Added a couple new sites to the Baseball Links section, namely, Greg Spira's Baseballpages.com and Sean Lahman's Baseball Archive. Both are excellent all-around baseball sources. Greg is responsible for the Internet Baseball Awards, while Sean keeps an unbelievably comprehensive database of baseball statistics. Check them out! Also, long overdue, put in a link to the Society for American Baseball Research, an organization dedicated to the research of all aspects of baseball.

April 23, 1999: Posted Fall/Winter League Stars: Puerto Rican League. Fixed and added links to some sites in the Minor League Resources section. Posted the latest standings for my one Scoresheet league that doesn't have its own web site.

March 1, 1999: Put up the first installment in the Draft Watch 1999 Series, this one on some prospects from the University of Michigan. Added links to a couple cool sites: Ray McKelvie's Fantasy Baseball Links and Rob Sitler's Tiger Sports. Updated the link to NL Big Spenders; it's now at http://members.xoom.com/boness/AUCTION/Auction.htm.

February 16, 1999: Finally finished the AL projections! Check out the numbers and comments for the Tampa Bay Devil Rays, Texas Rangers, and Toronto Blue Jays, or take a look at just numbers for the entire American League. Posted Life in the SLO Lane: Part 2.

February 11, 1999: Posted the first of a four-part series highlighting the top performers in fall and winter leagues, in Fall/Winter League Stars: Mexican Pacific League.

February 8, 1999: Posted the first Ducksnort article of 1999, called Life in the SLO Lane: Part 1.

February 6, 1999: Posted the new URL for NL Big Spenders (Dave Guthmann's Auction League): http://members.xoom.com/boness/Auction.htm. Added player projections for two more teams, the Oakland Athletics and Seattle Mariners. Automated the web site mailing list courtesy of ListBot.

January 9, 1999: Added the next three teams' worth of player projections, including the Kansas City Royals, Minnesota Twins, and New York Yankees.

December 31, 1998: Added links to Baseball Mogul, Infinite Monkey's highly addictive "armchair general manager" sim, and Baseball Sim Central, a general resource for baseball simming. Also posted the next three teams' worth of player projections. This week's additions include the Chicago White Sox, Cleveland Indians, and Detroit Tigers.

December 23, 1998: Posted the first of the player projections, for the Anaheim Angels, Baltimore Orioles, and Boston Red Sox.

December 17, 1998: Added a link to the BL Roaring Twenty (formerly BL Eighteen Men Out) official web site. Check it out at http://www.meathog.com/roaring20/.

December 5, 1998: I've redesigned the site so that it's easier to navigate and (hopefully) more pleasing to the eye. I've also started a mailing list. If you'd like to be notified by e-mail of updates to the site, contact me at Ptarmigan3@aol.com and I'll add you to the list!
