Baguio City: The Summer Capital of the Philippines
CLIMATE

At an average of 16 degrees celsius, Baguio City is known for its cool climate. A typical day in Baguio would be sixteen to twenty-one degrees celcius. This is the main reason why Baguio is so popular with tourists. However, due to rapid urbanization, cutting of trees, increased population and pollution, it is notably hot during the peak hours, specially at noon time. Remember to bring BOTH warm and cool clothes.
Nevertheless, I am sure you will enjoy your stay here in Baguio.

Ay huwag na lang! Bili na lang tayo sa ukay-ukay!

LOCATION

Baguio City is located north of Metro Manila (about 250 kilometers). It takes about six to seven hours by bus (after the recent Typhoon Feria/Utor though, it takes about eight hours because of the road diversions) from Manila. When taking a plane, it would take about 40 minutes,

Known for its pine trees and cool climate, Baguio City is a hot favorite of tourists and
bakasyonistas especially during summer. Thus the term: SUMMER CAPITAL OF THE PHILIPPINES

GETTING HERE
From the lowlands, the city can be reached by passing through Kennon Road, Marcos Highway and Naguilian Road. Kennon Road will be the shortest route from Manila but it is usually closed to all types of vehicles especially during storms. The reason? Well, ever heard of landslides?

If you plan to pass through Marcos Highway, you made a safe choice(for me, at least). Plus, you get an excellent view of the mountains. It has undergone many changes and improvements. Beware of the one-way roads here. Expect traffic when reaching near Tuba. Beware of fogs especially during the afternoon.

Naguilian Road is the shortest route to La Union. La Union is known for its beaches and seafood. Be sure to visit the place.

And of course, who would forget one of the marvels of modern technology : the airplane. It will only take about 40 minutes to come here. Plus, you are comfortable!
Kung excited ka ba - e di mag-eroplano na! You will land at Loakan Airport. You can take a taxi from there.
