Greetings, Salutations and Felicity unto
thee, wanderer! Welcome to my abode. This is the on-line residence of Master
Gwynfor Lwyd, a 13th century Welshman dwelling now in the Current Middle Ages.
What are the Current Middle Ages, you ask? That is the term used by the Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA) to
describe our recreation of pre-17th Western European arts, crafts and passtimes.
The SCA is the largest medieval recreation group in the world with nearly 30 000
members in North America, Europe, Africa, Asia and Australasia.
My home is in the Canton of Krae Glas, which is part of the Barony of Stormhold, in the Kingdom of Lochac, which is the newest and 17th kingdom in the Society. In modern parlance this equates to the south-eastern suburbs of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. I dwell here with Baroness Gwir verch Madog, my lady wife and inspiration, and our son, Peregrin ap Gwynfor. I am somewhat of a wanderer myself, having attended events in the central Kingdom of the West, and the kingdoms of An Tir, Caid, East, Calontir, Ansteorra, Meridies, Atlantia, Outlands and Aethelmarc.
In the SCA my interests are diverse. I love tournament combat and wars, I make armor (but do not call myself an armorer), training fighters, enjoy brewing, calligraphy, heraldry, cartography, running events, holding offices, cooking, leatherwork, metalwork, woodwork and countless other activities. Baroness Gwir is adept at tablet weaving, embroidery, cooking, sotleties and is the patron of the Stormhold Chapter of the Worshipful Companie of Broiderers. Together with Peregrin, we are members of House Woodrose.
The primary purpose of this page is to display the many images of the society I have garnered over the 18+ years I have been a member. You can find those images here. Hopefully I shall add to the page as I find the time and suitable material.
