"With victims and families of victims of the World Trade Center and Oklahoma City bombings
looking on, President Clinton signed Congress' new anti-terrorism bill this April. Clinton,
while complaining that too many anti-terrorism measures "were left on the cutting room floor,"
said the bill still makes important progress. "It may not go as far as I would like, but it does
strike a real blow against terrorism, and I will be happy to sign it." Clinton observed.
The legislation, after floundering in Congress for over a year, was sent to Clinton on the
anniversary of the Oklahoma City bombing. It was approved after
Republicans fought off Democratic attempts to restore tough measures
that expanded federal law enforcement powers.
The disputed measures that were cut by House Republicans and the National Rifle Association included provisions that would have eased wiretapping phones of suspected
terrorists, authorized military cooperation with civilian law enforcement in matters concerning
chemical or biological weapons of mass destruction, lengthened the statute of limitations on
illegally making a bomb, silencer, or sawed-off shotgun, banned bomb-making information from
the Internet, and increased FBI access to personal and travel records."
All I can say is THANK YOU FELLOW REPUBLICANS and THANK YOU NRA! That bolshevik Clinton needed
to be reminded that the second amendment includes the right to chemical and biological weapons.
