The Problem
Original Specification
The engine has always been standard. It was even impossible to find a K&N sportfilter. The one they delivered did not fit. You should not expect to find any tuning kits for Rover in Germany. I was thinking about Nitro but abandoned this desperate idea soon.

Because I had no garage an
additional heater was fitted for winter time. It runs with petrol. Programmed for a certain time in the morning I find the engine and interior warmed up, no ice scratching of the windows required. But sometimes the battery was drained, because ventilation and water pump consume too much power.
After three years I have my 3rd battery!
Better to have a garage!
After 10 years the heater was broken and removed.

Only for styling purpose I bought a
Supersprint Sports Exhaust. Neither does it add power nor has it a decent sound.
UPDATE from 2008: The exhaust sound is improving with the size of the rust hole on the bottom side ;-)

The following engine mod chapter may be obsolete,
because the companies may no longer exist or stopped the supply of the mentioned kits and because I am no longer interested in messing around with the engine.

In the UK there are tuning kits for Rover K series engines available:

Natural Aspirated Engines:
Polished Heads with different camshafts
(
Moto-Build )

Cam shafts, throttle bodies (
QED )

Supercharger kit:
A bolt on Eaton Supercharger from
Mynheer
There are some Tuners for Lotus Elise in Germany. The Elise was also using a Rover K-series engine, but with 1.8litre. Here also supercharger and turbo kits are available.

They have something in common with the sets from UK:
They are illegal in Germany and they cost a fortune!
