Below are images of the my tools of the trade. Some of the item I sold to other musicians simply because I didn't have the space when bought new equipment.

Cameo

Features:

  • 2 Single coil pickups
  • Hollow body
  • 2 on/off pickup switches
  • 1 volume and 1 tone
  • Whammy

The Cameo is what my father bought for me from a Pawn Shop for Christmas in 1975. It was (at the time) a nice instrument to learn to play the guitar on. One thing I thought was bothersome to me is it's the only guitar that I can remember that had a bridge that not anchored down. Some time it would shift and throw your intonation out the window. As you look closely, you can see the bridge tilted on the guitar. I sold this one to make extra cash to buy my next guitar, the Fender Lead III.

Fender Lead III

Features:

  • 2 Humbucking pickups
  • 2 3-way pickup switches
  • Small double cut-away contoured body
  • Maple neck
  • Transparent sunburst finish
  • 21 frets
  • Free hard-shell guitar case

This is the instrument where I developed my chops. It's one of my most favorite guitars. I bought her in 1983 and she's worth every penny. The tone is phenomenal. With 9 switch positions, you'll have a total tone smorgasbord.   Not only it's a  beauty, but she's tough as nails. As my main guitar for gigs through out the 80's, we had gigs that were pretty harsh on a guitar's finish. It also didn't help when I place it in the trunk of my car where the temperature in a trunk can get either extremely cold or hot - depending on the season. We played on the beach several times - outdoors in the salty, humid, ocean air. But now it' s 2008 and the finish isn't cracked or at all. This poor guitar has been residing in it's guitar case in storage for almost 10 years. I've just recently pulled it out of it's case cleaned her up and put on a set of strings, and it still plays as good as it did in the 80's. To add to my surprise, the neck was straight as an arrow - not warped at all and no string buzz. This has to be one of Fender's best guitars.

Fender Stratocaster

Speaking of best guitars, there's nothing much you can say about the Strat, just the musical history alone does it's speaking for it. As you can see, it's the standard model, with a whammy.

Carvin DC-200

Features:

  • Maple neck through body
  • 2 Humbuckers
  • Active & Passive Electronics
  • Pick up on/off switches
  • 2 Dual/single coil switches
  • Phase switch
  • 24 Frets

I've heard many guitarists talk about receiving a copy of the Carvin catalog in the mail - I'm one of them. To this day, I still don't know how I my name wound up on their mailing list but  I'm glad it was. Before the catalog, I had no idea what Carvin guitar was about. I've never seen anyone play one, at least the celebrity guitarists that I know of. But one day in the year of 1999, I found a Carvin in a pawn shop that was for sale. Curious, I  had to pick it up and try it out. After tuning it up a little, I plugged it in the nearest amp and I was blown away. The first thing I noticed for myself is how comfortable my left hand was around the neck smooth finish. I struck a chord and it was sweet. The overall look and feel was solid. I was sold. I didn't buy the one I saw in the pawn shop, I chose to buy one from the catalog. This is now my main guitar and I'm hoping to buy a second one soon. If I do, I'll definitely place a photo on this page...stay tuned!
