Matsushita Ge transistors. If you find some buy them! Very reliable and consistent. And above all, they sound awesome in a Fuzz Face, Tone Bender and Rangemaster.


Toshiba, Texas Instrument, Siemens, Hitachi, Sanyo Ge transistors. All the Toshiba and TI I have are very low leakage devices, many less than 50uA, and sound very very good.

This is a list of Ge transistors with average hFE and leakage as measured using RG Keen test. This method sets the base current at 4uA. At higher base current transistors marked with an (*) have considerable higher hFE. Values can deviate up to ±50% from the average.
