God's Crying

The devil devised religion
It makes sound sense to me
He must have had a leering grin
As they nail Jesus to a tree.

Its time that we got wise to him
And changed the world around
Got rid of all the temples
And pulled churches to the ground

I’m sure God must be crying
For all the harm religion’s done
It’s not what he intended
When Earth exploded from the Sun

The Crusades and the IRA
The swords and now the guns
They have all assemble armies
As soon as they had funds

I wish I could tear down the Weeping Wall
And plant flowers where it stood
I’d flatten all Jerusalem
And plant olives if I could

From Saladin to Rasputin,
From King Henry to Pope John
They fracture every moral rule
How did they interpret "God" so wrong?

Why do we respect tradition?
When much of it is bad
Why should we cherish history?
When much of it is sad

Can’t we have a Universal Creed?
That the entire world could heed
Full of everlasting love
Focused on "One God" above

Let Hindus, Muslims and Buddhists too
Join Christians in one point of view
And let happiness rule throughout the Earth
That’s what I think ~ for what its worth.

"This poem speaks such truth ~ why can't we all live together in harmony with a Universal Creed?   Why can't we just respect one another and love one another as God intended us to?   Why do we have to hate and fight wars of injustice?   Where is the sense in that?   I could not have said this better myself.   I believe that God looks down upon us, as His creation, and weeps at the mess we have made of our lives, the world, and the hate we have for our fellow brothers and sisters.   I believe God cries when He sees what we have done, and the hate we live in and let rule our lives.   This poem is a true tribute to how the world has become in later years to today....and God cries for us.   Thank you, Albert ,for another wonderful poem!
