| It was two days after Jim, Blair, and Deana had became members of Mutant X and were all given their silver bejeweled com-link rings. Jim and Blair had helped Deana as did the others of Mutant X move the remaining things that she owned into her new place. Afterwards they all had a party and invited the other new mutants in the area to come. Fun was had by all. Jim had remarked to himself that his "tribe" was becoming more unusual by the moment. And Jim had had a great time talking with Brennan and Jesse about fighting techniques and swapping war stories. Blair and Adam spent most of the time in deep conversation about the moral and ethical uses of science. Jim was happy that Blair had someone to talk about the sentinel stuff too. He thought that Adam would be a great influence on Blair. He also hoped that the two scientist together would be able to understand the sentinel thing better. Also in a twisted way Jim was looking forward to working with Blair to understand his powers. Blair would benefit from having Adam as a friend, Jim had thought. They all would benefit from being friends. Walking into the bullpen the sentinel and guide where stopped by Captain Simon Banks. "Gentlemen, I have a case for you." "What, someone doesn't think that we have enough bad guys in Cascade." Blair said with a little laugh. "No, Sandburg. They just don't want you to sit around and get lazy!" Simon said to his friend giving a little smart smile. "Let's have it, sir." Jim said holding out his hand to take the file. "We have three murders. Last one happened last night at about 11o'clock. His name was Lee Masters. The others names were: Mitch Fields and Carla Davidson. All of whom have no prior connection with one another. All have different professions and none of the initial investigators are at a loss for what killed them. The only thing that they found that was similar at each of the scenes was a triple triangle symbol. We are leaning toward a cult of some kind. I want the two of you on this one guys." "Yes, sir." Jim says to his captain. He and Blair head out the door to check out the three crime scenes while at the same time looking at the file that Captain Banks had given them. In the truck they are discussing the case. "You know Jim this symbol looks very familiar. I know I have seen it before but I can't quite put my finger on it." "Try using your powers then." Jim said looking at his friend and smiling. "You just had to say that, huh? I guess I am gonna get it all back at me know." "Well, Adam did say that you needed to work on them." "I thought that I would be working on them in Sanctuary first and not in the field." Blair said "I couldn't resist myself, Chief. I had to say that." Jim says. "Yeah, I bet!" Jim parks the truck in front of a old Victorian house with a beautiful yard. This is the site of the murder last night of Lee Masters. "It says here that he had lived here for the last year. The neighbors considered him a polite and quite man. He had helped them out a lot with their electronics. They said that he had a magical touch with anything that you could plug in to a wall socket.." Blair read the file." They get out and walk up the steps to the door. When they step through the door Blair is overcome with a feeling of dread. He could feel the fear and anger in the place. "Oh man, talk about your bad vibes!" Blair says through slightly heavy breathing. "Are you okay Chief? You don't look to well." "Yeah, I'm fine, I'm fine. Let's get this over with. I don't like this place." They walk into the kitchen, the site of the murder. There they both see the triple triangle symbol on the wall. Just then as he is looking around Blair has a wave of more fear and anger and a vision of a bright light and Masters falling to the floor. Blair felling his legs a little unstable grabs for Jim to keep himself from falling. "What is it Blair?" Jim says but Blair is unable to talk because the vision is too powerful. He has never felt like this before and is overwhelmed. "Okay that is it, I'm gonna get you out of here." Jim takes him out of the house and leads him to the truck and gets him inside. He then goes over to the drivers side and gets in. "Blair, what happened? You look like you saw a ghost or something?" Blair finally able to speak says, "I would say that that was your department but now I'm not too sure." He takes his head into his hands and breaths in a deep and shaky breath. "I think that I just saw my first official vision. Not a very good one at that! "Well, what did you see?" "You sound like me." Blair says and Jim smiles sympathetically at his friend. "I saw a bright light and Lee Masters falling to the floor." "Do you want me to call Adam? Maybe he can help you sort through it. I don't know what I can do for you." Jim asks him. Looking up at Jim he says in a more stable voice, "No, Jim, Adam has enough to be concerned with. Let's go back in there and look around some more." "Your kidding? Are you sure Chief? You can stay out here while I go in and check the place out," he says with his hand on Blair's shoulder. "Yeah, I'm sure. I have to get used to this stuff. Just like you are getting used to your sentinel abilities. If I don't get used to them now I will never get used to them." Blair says and then steps out of the vehicle. Jim follows behind him watching every step that his guide makes. They go into the house and look for any clues as to who could have murdered the man. Blair doesn't have any more visions but the feelings are still there and he has to steel himself. They then go to the other sites and Blair has similar visions of the murders. Both men are concerned about this and they make an appointment to visit Dan down at the morgue to check out the victims bodies. Maybe that will give them an answer to this one. Dan tells them to come down and they can take a look at the three people. Blair is not looking forward to this and Jim knows that and offers him an encouraging smile in support of his guide. Blair is grateful that Jim was there with him. |
