Carleen was raised in US. She received a prestigious grant to study music education at the University of Southern California. Her mother encouraged her to visit London to sing in a one-off show with the James Brown All Stars in 1988, (James Brown is her uncle, Jhelisa and Pamela Anderson from D*Note, her cousins). Carleen agreed and the show was a huge success. She moved officialy to London and there she became main vocalist of Young Disciples. After the Disciples split, Carleen pursued a solo career and later linked up with the original acid jazzsters, The Brand New Heavies, replacing lead vocalist Siedah Garrett. |
