Tamazight
Tayri is opgericht door Abderrahmane Oussaid en Mohamed Ouhlous, Imazighen uit de oostelijke voet van de grote Atlas gebergte om precies te zijn uit Aferkla. Aferkla is een oase tussen Imtghern (Errachidia is de huidige arabische naam) en Ouerzazate. Imazighen of te wel Vrije Mensen, hebben door de eeuwen heen de schatten en geheimen van hun cultuur goed bewaard ondanks de invasies van verschillende dynastieën zoals de Farao's, de Byzantijnen, de Romeinen, en meer recent de Arabieren en de Europeanen. Tayri betekent in het Tamazight (de taal van Imazighen) liefde. Liefde voor een cultuur die probeert te overleven in een tijd dat de zoektocht naar identiteit een misdaad is geworden.

De groep Tayri maakt gebruik van Lutar (Loetar) en Alun (Aloen) in combinatie met moderne instrumenten. Amazigh muziek is een muziek die veel aandacht besteed aan poëzie en tekst. Verschillende onderwerpen worden behandeld.

Lutar (By Mohamed Ouhlous)
Mohamed_Ouhlous ...During a visit to Louvre in Paris, I was amazed by the fact that Lutar (Lootar) was used in the time of the Pharaohs to play music. It's te same instrument tat we are using in Morocco! I told my friend Mustapha Adnane. I took some pictures to show the world that Lutar is one of the ancient music instruments still used by Imazighen in Morocco. Lutar consists of Ighs (body) made from wood and covered by Abetan (leader of a goat or cheep). Afus (neck) is round and penetrates deep in the body where it ends as tailpiece for four strings. At the other end, there is place for four big wood tuners. The neck does not have a fingerboard. Ahemar (bridge) made by wood lifts up the strings to avoid contact with the body and neck. Elastic band may be used as a string capo.

Rouicha Mohamed is the best Lutar player the world has ever seen. Rouicha was the one who added the 4th string to Lutar. When I visited him in august 1997, I asked him about the reason why he added the fourth string to Lutar. His answer was: With the 4th string I have more space to find my notes...my freedom. In addition, Rouicha has worked together with a lot of instrument makers to improve the sound of Lutar. The size of the body and neck were refined to achieve a better resonation of the strings. The shape of the body was divided into two patterns: male and female. The male is smaller than the female body and has a sharp and very fast decaying sound. The female body is preferred by the most Lutar-players due to its voluminous sound. In general, Lutar gives a dry sound but at the same moment it is very warm and emotional. As Lutar originates from the Atlas Mountains, most players use a delay effect when playing it. The effect sound simulates the sound produced when playing in the mountains.

There are different ways to tune Lutar. But most Imazighen use the Rouicha tuning to play Lutar.
