SHELTER HoE TIMELINE
This timeline was a project started by Jay Kyle, chronicling events relevent to the Deadlands: Hell on Earth setting. All of the dates come from the various source books that have so far been released in the product line. As more are released, this timeline will be updated accordingly. If you know of some dates/events not represented by the timeline (or that we've somehow misrepresented something) , email me here at the Shelter with the information (please include the source of your information). We'd like this timeline to be as complete and accurate as possible! 1863 The Reckoning begins with the Battle of Gettysburg.
1868 The Great Quake shatters the West Coast, creating the Great Maze.
1870 Dr. Darius Hellstromme comes to Salt Lake City, Deseret with his invention the "steam wagon" - Junkyard (City of Gloom) is born.
1877 The Agency founded, by order of US President Grant.
1884 Due to population increase, Hellstromme Industries begins construction of the first underground sub level at Junkyard (completed in 1890, expanded in 1892 and 1896).
1900 Dr. Darius Hellstromme disappears - assumed sick or dead.
1917 Dr. Darius Hellstromme reappears with new automaton body.
1920 Second sub level built at Junkyard over 200 feet below the surface.
1939 WWII begins.
1948 WWII ends with an Allied victory after the atomic bombing of Berlin.
1950 Junkyard's second sub-level expanded. Junkyard's factories runaround the clock filling military orders for both the USA and CSA.
1968 Hellstromme Industries support of the Vietnam War prove unpopular with the Mormons of Deseret, and anti-war activists call for a boycott of HI goods. Despite large military contracts, HI profits sag.
1970 HI rebounds during the oil crisis with ghost rock power plants.
1987 Construction of the Vanessa Hellstromme Memorial Dome begins in response to complaints of pollution emissions from Junkyard (completed in 1991).
1995 HI International Airport opened on top of the Venessa Helstromme Memorial Dome.
1999 Cult of Atheron destroyed in Colorado by Agency cyborgs, sykers and US Army units
(Task Force Snowshoe Hare).
2016 US President Sandusky assassinated by Russian Federation syker in Oval Office.
2028 Cult of Atheron attempts to summon demon in United States.
2044 Hellstromme opens the Tunnel to the Faraway System The planet Banshee is discovered and contact is made with the natives. The first ghost rock bomb is unveiled by Dr. Darius Hellstromme. Shortly after viewing tapes of HI troops slaughtering natives on Banshee, Deseret president James Snoddy revokes Hellstromme's citizenship and has him deported from Deseret. Helstromme gains US citizenship and moves operations to Denver, crippling Junkyard economy.
2031 US Beredsky misinformation campaign begins.
2045 April 09: First Atomic Ghostrock Bomb detonated.
2047 Due to security issues Junkyard's sub level two is sealed.
2052 Ghost rock discovered on Banshee. Hellstromme unveils the enhanced-yield "city buster" ghost rock bomb.
2060 Junkyard's sub level one is sealed and becomes a haven for undesirables. Junkyard's economy continues to nosedive and the population decreases.
2063 July 03: The HI city-buster is unveiled.
2065 Congo War allows first full-scale use of cyborgs.
2068 Congo War ends. Dead Person's Liberation Front takes UN Delegation hostage. General acceptance of cyborgs follows hostage rescue.
2070 Junkyard police cease all patrols of sub level two.
2071 Earthquake in Mississippi floods Baton Rouge.
2074 The Faraway revolt begins.
2076 The Red River Campaign begins.
2077 The Esmerelda incident increases CSA/LatAm tensions.
2078 USA president John Romero impeached before the ?78 election. Nov 02: Mary Rose Tremane elected new US President. CSA president Allan Sothby begins first term. Feb 22: Lat/Am Alliance invades SoCal, lays seige to LA. May: CSA counterattacks Lat/Am forces - occupies northern LA as USA/CSA tensions escalate.
2080 Christmas Cease-Fire between USA/CSA.
2081 Jan 01: Air Force One goes down over the Rockies - president Tremane assumed dead. Jan 08: VP Andrew Bates sworn in as US president. Sept 23: Judgement Day. Salt Lake City and Junkyard targeted by 6 bombs - Salt Lake completely destroyed, while energy shield technology in the Vanessa Hellstromme Memorial Dome preserves Junkyard. Three weeks later, the Battle of Junkyard occurs between disgruntled yarders and remaining HI employees. Ike Taylor becomes leader of Junkyard. Nov 23: The Unity returns to earth from the Faraway system.
2082 General Samuel Throckmorton founds the Combine.
2083 Cult of Doom is formed in Las Vegas by Silas Rasmussen. Beginnings of the Templar movement form in Boise under Simon Mercer.
2084 Goose Mattox forms the Convoy.
2085 Virginia City Massacre.
2086 Schism occurs between Silas and Joan.
2090 The Battle of Burnt Tires occurs between the Convoy and the Combine. The Chamber is formed.
2091 The Great Council of Templars held.
2092 Avis Quinlan revives the Neo-Luddite movement.
2094 Today.
