I finished the painting I'd been working on for a while. I'm pretty pleased with it.

This is the painting.

This is the original image I worked from.

I was reminded I had this thing today. So yeah a lot has happened since April 16 I'm sure. School's over for one. I did decent this semester but not real good. Finals sucked as they always do. I'm back home for the present. I'm working my ass off to make money before I head to England in the fall. I'm working a construction job days and am a part time cook at Dublin's Pub downtown CR nights. Been playing poker, watching movies good stuff like that in my free time. Went down to Iowa City this past weekend. Got pretty stupid. Yeah, ask about that if you want a fuller story. Got to work at 7 again tomorrow assuming it isn't raining so I'm gonna check out. Later

I finished all my taxes. Woot.

Easter was good. I won't be around to eat leftovers. This makes me sad. I to get to bring a batch of my mom's scones to ND though. That's yummy. I haven't gotten as much work done as I wanted. That sucks. But I replaced work with seeing family and friends so I sposse that's a decent trade off. Me and Nick are gonna take off around 9 tomorrow, hopefully be back in ND around 4. It's gonna be a crappy, drag down, knock out couple of weeks I think. Oh well, summer is almost here.

So like normal it's the weekend and I'm updating this. Also like normal a lot had gone on but I'm really to lazy to go into detail. So short version. Last week was the wake. That was awesome. Our section them was pirates. I had a great time. I passed the PRT monday morning. Barely passed but passed. That'll be the last time I have to take a PRT in a year. Had a thermo test Monday. That didn't go great but thankfully I don't think anyone else did super either. YAH for low curves.

We went on our power plant tour on wednesday. That wasn't as bad as Jumper bad it out to be. I turned in a Lab report i stayed up all night tuesday that afternoon. Thursday a few of us from HA went to a small show for some catholic education conference. That was ok. I did get a steak dinner out of the deal so I'm not complaining.

Friday after class then we took off for the Dawg retreat. That was a good time. Hopefully someone will have some pictures in a day or two. Now it's saturday night and I need to figure out what I want to do.

Your pirate name is:
Iron Sam Flint

A pirate's life isn't easy; it takes a tough person.
That's okay with you, though, since you a tough person.
Like the rock flint, you're hard and sharp.
But, also like flint, you're easily chipped, and sparky. Arr!

SUNDAY SUNDAY SUNDAY!!!! Yeah so it's Sunday about noon. I just got up. Gonnna go get lunch, go to improv practice, try to get my keyboard fixed, maybe go running. WAKE week starts today. We celebrate our hall spirit by getting blasted for a week straight, getting blasted with giant inflatable jungle gym type things and then finally getting wasted, having a dance and parading around a coffin. I love Alumni.

This vacation approved by Brady Quinn

Yeah I'm back from break. Break was pretty sweet. Me and Chris went down to the Cayman Islands with my parents. We drove into Chicago Friday night and spent Saturday traveling. We stayed in a condo down there which was pretty nice. We had a view over the ocean and a nice beach just out the door.

Chris spent the first few days getting his certification dives down while Mom, Dad and I did shore dives around the place Chris was doing his cert dives. The place was called Eden Rock. It was an ok dive site. Nothing terribly exciting in terms of marine life, certainly nothing I haven’t seen before. There were some pretty cool caves and tunnels.

Tuesday we went out on a snorkeling boat to a place called stingray city. People have been coming out there so long and feeding the stingrays that they now congregate there and are pretty tame. My parents were out there when they were in the Caymans 2 years ago and they said it was absolutely nuts. This time there were a lot more people out there so it wasn’t quiet as cool but still we got to hold stingrays which I’ve sure as hell never done before. So that was sweet.

Wednesday we went out on a Boat dive, it was Chris’s first open water dive. It was actually the deepest I’ve ever been. Chris and I were down to about 120 feet (we’re only certified to be down to 100.) That dive wasn’t actually that cool though because A) it was cloudy and we were deep so we couldn’t see well and B) there were close to zero fish down there. The second dive that day was better, went to a shallower reef with a LOT of fish. The fish there in the Caymans were some of the tamest I’ve ever seen. They will swim REALLY close to you and aren’t skittish at all. In fact I was just floating in a school of Sgt. Majors when one of them came up and bit me. Definitely never had that happen before.

Thursday we mostly just laid around and relaxed. Friday we packed up and flew back home. Had a delay in Ft. Lauderdale which blew. Chris and I didn’t end up getting back to ND until around 2:30 the next morning.

So here’s the other cool thing that happened over break. We’re in the supermarket getting like chips and pop and stuff for the next few days and I see this guy down the aisle who’s a big guy, wearing a backpack and looks familiar. I take a second look and the guy really looks like Brady Quinn. I figure it’s a weird coincidence and shake it off, I mean what are the chances Brady is vacationing in the same place we are? Then later Chris grabs my arm and goes “Dan, holy crap Brady Quinn is down that aisle buying cheese.” So were both thought this was pretty cool, then this girl standing behind us says, “You can go and say hi to him if you want”. Turns out she’s his GF and so we said hi to Brady and my dad talked to him about it being more dangerous to drive on the wrong side of the road in the Caymans that to scuba dive. That’s my story, I’m awesome.

Ummm midterms next week. Stats and Cad/Cam. Booooooo. NLW this weekend. Nothing terribly exciting. No PT tomorrow morning. VERY awesome. Dinning in last weekend. Mediocre. I accidently deleted half my pictures on my hard drive, very pissed about that. I'm sure much more has happened. If you truely care ask me.

I FOUND A PICTURE OF HOWLAND AS A CHILD!!!!!!!!

2/19/06

So it's Sunday. Weekends really fly by. Went to Second City Friday night. They weren't actually spectacular which was kind of a let down. Spent the rest of the night hanging out. Saturday went really quick. Did a little bit of stuff for the ROTC JPW reception. Studied for thermo a lot. We had cake for Ron's birthday and then we went to Hooters for dinner where we got Ron a poster signed by all the waitresses. That was fantastic. Josh and I went to Britney's after that. Sean's brother was in from Ireland. That was cool. Britney told us the story of how she and Sean met. That was actually a pretty amazing story. Got back pretty late. Chris and the family and I went out for Brunch this morning and now I'm back here.

Got HA practice in a bit. Still need to study more for thermo and I need to finish my solids lab. Tonight we're spossed to meet to go over dinning in skits. Then it's mass and PT tomorrow uggh.

Inresting thing

2/12/06

I've done about zero today. However I'm two game further into my season on NCAA '06. I almost lost to navy. On side kick and a interception saved me.

I need to finish thermo today and if I get solids done to I'll be pretty psyched. Let's see what's been going on. Had a good time this weekend. Had people over here Friday night. Went out to grab some dinner Saturday night and we got a movie, Clerks. It was pretty good. The only other Kevin Smith movie I've seen is Dogma and I liked em both.

Friday before the party Maura and I went to see Footloose. John was in the band and his girlfriend Callie had the female lead. It was a REALLY good show. The coreography was great, singing good, a funny show, the comic relief guy really stole the show. Makes me kinda miss being in shows and stuff back in high school. Oh well, I'm busy enough as it is. Great job to the Footloose cast though. Really any musical with music from the 80's can't be bad though.

Thursday night me and the Dezzie went to the Keenan Review. That was less than spectacular. It just wasn't funny. Hald the "skits" were maybe 15 seconds long. Half the jokes were "St. Mary's girls are easy." Nothing wrong with that joke. But seriously 15 times it gets old. And it's not like they were clever about it. The jokes were seriously "Girls that go to St. Mary's are easy! rimshot!" Guys dressed in drag also get less funny the 5th time. Yelling does not make you funny, it makes you loud. Now there were some good sketches, the Nazi song was actually pretty funny, the res life song. Oh well I guess it's free and you get what you pay for.

Semester hasn't been horrible. I've been doing a decent job of keeeping up on stuff. Each of my classes has homework due on a different day so while I always have something due it doesn't pile up. Can't complain about that.

OH OH OH I can't believe I forgot!

I'm going to London!!!

1/30/06

Done with classes for the day. Another Monday has come and almost past. Went to the Cavanugh formal saturday with Maura. That was a lot of fun. Maura and Danielle were definitly right about the Gold Jacket DJ. He was pretty awesome.

I'm starting to get a decent feel for my classes. CAD/CAM is basically a study hall. Measurements and Solid Mechanics so far seem to be ridiculous. Thermo is going to be a bitch because our proffesor is a self absorbed asshole who really thinks he teaches the most important class in the world. He gave our class of 108 a seating chart and is taking attendance. He' make horrible jokes and is incredibly boring. Dynamics might be ok. Howland is at least funny.

We changed around our common room a little. We removed on of the legs of the loft and now we can slide the futon in and out so we can have some floor space if we want. That's working out pretty well. We're kicking around the idea of going to Canada for a weekend. I'm hoping that goes through because that would be sweet.

New HA website

So I'm back at school and going to classes and crap again. Oh boy another semester! It's cold here. Sigh only 3 more months of winter. I don't have class till 12:50 today. Yesterday I had measurements, CAD/CAM and Navigation. Measurements seems like it's gonna be boring as hell. The prof is a little asain lady who I can't hear and when I can hear her I can't understand what she's saying. CAD/CAM seems like it might be ok. Just from the little bit of messing around I did the other day it reminds me a little of the software we used like freshman year in high school to do geometry stuff. Navigation is Naval Science so it had better be simple. The new LT. seems to be pretty decent.

I gonna try to keep a decent work out routine going. So far Ron, Chris and I are going running in the morning with some lifting. We'll see how long that lasts. Damn cold makes it a bitch to run outside. I guess I'll be stuck in Loftus for another 3 months.

We rearanged the couches in the room so we now actually have some floor space which is nice. I think that's about all the news for now. I'm gonna take a nap.

Hey so another year is upon us. Funny it feels pretty much the same as 2005. Fiesta Bowl Pics are up Here. The game was cool. I had a really good time. I need to head out at the moment so I guess I'll finish this later.

Ok so I'm back. Came out even in a poker tournament tonight. So yeah the game was great. I had a real good time in Tempe. Very nice weather. My dad and I hiked some of the mountains close to the city. It was pretty nice views and all. Saw a hang glider take off from the peak of one of the mountains. That was pretty cool.

Getting painted up for the game was really cool and all. We had GREAT seats. We were 5 rows up. I got up on the jumbotron for a while at towards the end of the game. That pretty much made my day.

Before the trip to Tempe I'd been just hanging around here mostly. Getting ready for Christmas, having Christmas, Reading, Sleeping, Painting. So yeah that was all good stuff.

The rest of break I plan to spend about like I did the first half. SLeeping, Reading and Painting. Looking forward to that.

Since I'm bored I figured I'd update this.
