Home of the US Nationals

Indianapolis Raceway Park is home to what is now called the U.S. Nationals. In the early days it was just called the Nationals but say the word "Indy" and everyone knows what you are talking about. The importance of this race can not be understated. They say there are only two questions asked at the end of the racing season. Who won the World Championship and who won "Indy".

This page is under construction. Please come back soon to see how it progresses. I am also working on pages for US 30 Drag Strip and Tucson Dragway.

My first trip to Indy was in 1970. Here are some pictues from that year's race.

First of all, you can't get in the pits without one of these...

On a qualifing pass, the right front tire on Bruce Larson's USA-1 Camaro blew damaging the body. Here they are repairing the damage. Bruce Larson had a matching tow car, USA-1 Jr, to go along with his funny car.
