About Us

The Sons of Confederate Veterans, founded in 1896,  is a patriotic, historical and educational society of the male descendants of the men who served in the armed forces of the Confederate States of America during the War Between the States, 1861-1865.  It is non-political, non-sectarian, and does not promote or condone any racial or ethnic agenda. The purpose of the S.C.V. is to preserve and protect the history and heritage of the Confederate soldier, and to see that a true history of the War Between the States is passed on to future generations.

The Captain Granville Henderson Oury Camp 1708 was chartered in 1995 and serves the eastern half of Arizona's Valley of the Sun.  Members come from east Phoenix, Scottsdale, Tempe, Mesa, Chandler,  Apache Junction and other East Valley communities. .

Charge to the Sons of Confederate Veterans

"To you, Sons of Confederate Veterans, we will commit the vindication of the cause for which we fought.  To your strength will be given the defense of the Confederate soldier's good name, the guardianship of his history, the emulation of his virtues, the perpetuation of those principles which he loved and which you love also, and those ideals which made him glorious and which you also cherish."
