Vehicle Description (per ad)
This is a 1914 Grant Roadster, one of less than a dozen known to exist, and the only one available at this time to the best of my knowledge. The Model "M" Roadster was built for one year only (1914) and 3033 were produced. They were available with either gas or electric lighting systems, and this one has gas. I am the 4th owner, (but only the 2d registered owner) of this auto. This particular car was sold new in Los Angeles, licensed in 1914 and 1915 only (Metal registration tags still present) and then purchased from the original owner in the 1940's by Ray Nelson of North Hollywood. Ray was a collector who had 60 cars, and all he did to it in the time he owned it was to take off the original fenders and replace them with some from a Model T Ford. Unfortunately, he stored the original fenders outside, so they are more weathered than the rest of the car. In the late '60s, my best friend's dad, Robert Woltz purchased the car from Ray, (I was with them at the time) and then took it home, subsequently dismantling it for restoration. Bob made a new clutch throwout bearing, then sandblasted and primed the chassis, and lost a few parts in the 32 years he owned it. In Sept 2001, I bought it from Bob, and completely restored the chassis, then totally re-assmbled the car. It was obviously was very low mileage, and still has the factory original upholstery and paint on the body. Mechanically, everything has been done professionally. The engine is balanced, has Ross custom aluminum pistons, stainless valves, new bronze main and cam bearings, and modern seals throughout. It has a new leather clutch, all new bearings and modern seals in the transmission, differential and wheels. It has a new throwout bearing, U joint, driveshaft, and axle shafts. The original rack and pinion steering gear has been re-bushed. The radiator has been gone thru by the Brassworks. Original fenders sandblasted and primed to match body, with new oak runningboards. The car runs, handles and drives better than new, and will cruise easily at 40-45 MPH, (tops out at 50+.) There are half a dozen known in North America, two in Canada, one of which is in a museum, 4 here in the states, one of which is in a museum, another one is in the famous Beaulieu museum in England, and there's one each in Sweden, Denmark and Australia. I believe the Swedish one is in a museum. If you want a great performing VERY RARE early Brass era car, now's your only chance!! Be the 3rd registered owner of this little beauty. I do reserve the right to end this auction early if any local parties who have already seen the car come back and shove cash in my face before the auction ends!

Vehicle Condition
No expense spared mechanical restoration of chassis, original finish on body, original upholstery, fenders painted to match body as closely as possible. Gas tank cleaned and coated, chassis powder coated in original shade of red. Factory original sales catalog included. All components of this car are authentic with the exception of the Bosch magneto. The original was an obscure Swiss brand magneto, and had obviously been replaced very early on. Tires are "used" but were all that was available at the time I installed them. New ones are available now.
