Let us explain a little about how it works. Barbershop harmony is a style of unaccompanied singing were songs are sung in four parts, three voices harmonize to a melody. The four voice parts are lead, tenor, baritone, and bass. The lead sings the melody, the tenor harmonizes above the lead and the baritone and bass anchor the lower notes of the chord. The style is distinguished by uniformity of word sounds and a special emphasis on close harmony. Each voice is essential to the chords, so singers of all parts are prized. |
