10. Andrew Stephenson...Born around 1785 in McMinn County, Tennessee.

Sarah Stephenson was born around 1784 in or around Washington, Tennessee. She married John Morris on September 18, 1812 in Jefferson, Tennessee. It appears that John and Sarah came to McMinn County Tennessee around 1824, as he obtained 160 acres of land on July 12, 1824 and another 80 acres on the January 25, 1825.

John was a big farmer and a successful land speculator. He probably was a hard person to get along with as he filed numerous law suits against renters wanting his rent money. He had land worth $20,000. in 1860.That was a fortune at that time. As an example of his land dealings, was a farm he bought and two months later sold, and made a $2000.00 profit. That is more than many farmers made in their life time. He was still buying and selling land in 1872 when he was 82 years old. It appears that he did not get along too well with some of his children either. His daughter Rebecca, filed a suit against him for depriving her of her land. Sarah died on October 6, 1834. She is buried at Zion Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in McMinn County, Tennessee. John died between 1872 and 1880.
