Talk To A Literacy Learner

The TTALL programme is designed to provide specific training sessions to raise parent participation in their children's literacy activities and to improve the quality of interactions parents have with children as they read and write.

I am one of twenty parents, with children in various age groups at Yagoona Public School, who 'Graduated', 29th August, 1997. We completed a 16 week course of TTALL.

These pages are my project, putting into action all the skills taught to us by two dedicated and delightful teachers, Mrs Judy Hogan and Mrs Bonnie Howes. Hopefully, speaking for all of us, we have learned much ourselves and also our children have really reaped the benefits of this programme.

If you are ever given the chance to attend a TTALL Programme go for it.

And a BIG THANK YOU to Mr Frank Hickey,(Now Retired) Principal, Yagoona Public School.

Meet a Literacy Learner

My son, Zac

Zac was in Year 3 at Yagoona Public School and over the 16 weeks, I am pleased to report, his reading went from strength to strength, likewise his handwriting. He is now reading for meaning and is simply reading everything, literally, street signs - advertising billboards- and anything that has written words on it. I, sometimes, am not sure its a good thing. (Only kidding!)

Thank You for visiting these TTALL pages.
