THE PREPARATIONS
We decided to use Illustrated Stationery of Wales for our Invitations, Order of Ceremony programmes etc. We were most impressed by the standard produced by this company. As you can see, they carefully sketch a drawing of your venue to be reproduced throughout the range of items asked for.
In order to involve our friends and family in the ceremony, we asked our Best Man and Bridesmaid to participate in a reading; between them, Paul and Christine read "The Hands of the Bride and Groom"; a very moving piece brought to life by Scottish and Irish accents. We also had the minister read "The Apache Wedding Prayer"; so many guests commented on this wonderful piece of poetry. And to keep all things Scottish in our ceremony, the minister opened with an old Celtic Poem reading.
In designing the Order Of Ceremony programme, I wanted Graham's music to play a big part. A solo tenor sang Graham's songs that he wrote for me, during the ceremony and also as part of the processional. The sheet music for these songs were watermarked on the front page of the programme. The words to the songs were printed in each programme for our guests to read. Graham has asked that they are blocked out on the web site to avoid anyone else pinching his lyrics!
We wanted to thank our friends and family for being with us on such a special day so we made sure a comment said as much at the end of the programme. I thought it would also be nice for all the guests to know who the "main people" were!
We chose BALBIRNIE HOUSE for our venue; a beautiful Georgian Manor house hotel, on the outskirts of Glenrothes. The setting is just amazing; in the middle of a country park, surrounded by a golf course (which unfortunately the Groom didn't get a chance to use!)
