My second piece in variegated threads (the first was "Celtic Knots," also on this site). This one involved more of the Caron Wildflowers colors, with the mouth, eyes and backstitching done in DMC solids. I did change it slightly from the original design, dropping the border down to accomodate a signature, and changing the dragons' claws from metallic gold to dark green. In the model provided with the chart, the metallic gold claws were almost invisible, so I thought this way they would stand out. (They were also the only place the metallic gold thread was used, and at the time I had none in inventory and didn't want to buy a whole skein just for twelve stitches.)
I also changed the dragons' inner ear color from the pale green of the underbellies to the lemon-lime of the faces, for greater contrast. The signature is in the darkest of the variegated threads used in this piece. As with Celtic Knots, worked with one thread - the variegateds are thicker to accomodate this.
