BAT SIGNAL SHINES OVER CHICAGO

This week has once again seen lots of activity in Chicago connected with the filming of BATMAN BEGINS. There are numerous eye-witness reports of the filming available on-line, most notably at the Batman-On-Film and SuperHero Hype sites. We have some of the photos, links to TV news coverage and information from the set in the Movie News section below.

My apologies to some those GWN readers who get sent the weekly e-mail notification that the site has been updated. Finger trouble on my part meant one group of subcribers ended up with their e-mail addresses visible.

As always have a good week. - Alan J. Porter

LAPHAM WALKS GOTHAM STREETS IN DETECTIVE

Newsarama reports that beginning in December’s Detective Comics #801, writer / artist, Lapham will write, lay out, and provide covers for a twelve issue storyline.  Lapham took the Detective gig for a pretty simple reason – after becoming a father recently, he found that he had less time. “My new daughter is so unbelievably amazing that I wanted to spend more and more time with her being a dad and (Lapham's creator owned title) Stray Bullets became harder to do with the same regularity,”

I called up Bob [Schreck, Batman Group Editor] and said ‘I want to write and do layouts on something for you guys.’ He said, ‘Give me some more bad news,’ told me he thought Batman would be a good fit, I came up with this idea, and here we are. Initially, I thought I'd do about six issues. Bob had a slot open I guess and asked if I could do eight. Once I started writing, it was flowing so well, I pushed it up to twelve on him.”
