The Benefit Of Doubt

Betty S. Jordan - Harold Timmons

(1) When God looked down from Heaven, He saw the fall of man,
There had to be a sacrifice for fellowship again;
Then He sent Jesus, to lead the people out,
Still they didn’t trust and give the benefit of doubt.

(2) The gift of God is given to all who will receive,
The blood shed on Calv’ry was shed for you and me;
The gift of life is Jesus, that’s what it’s all about,
You must trust and give Him, the benefit of doubt.

(Chorus) The benefit of doubt they did not give the Lord,
But loudly cried "crucify," they were in one accord;
His sentence was a rugged cross that took His life,
To die for sin and strife;
A purple robe of mockery before He paid the price,
They followed up the rugged path, to see the sacrifice;
Nailed to Calvary’s cross, the sentence carried out,
They did not give the Lord the benefit of doubt.

(Tag) Nailed to Calvary’s cross, the sentence carried out,
They did not give the Lord the benefit of doubt.
